My wonderful summer holiday is over and I'm back to my teaching job. It's always as much of a shock to my body-mind-soul entity to have to endure the horrendous noise polution and the chaos of school work, after the calmness of summer vacations. Soooo, after work I pampered myself by picking up a couple of playline cuties from the 70% toy sale. This sweetie jumped in my cart in addition to the 2 Project MC2 dolls from my previous photo. She's not just a doll, but also a memory game. Her skirt lights up in three different colours and plays tunes that you have to memorize and repeat by punching the buttons on her belt. I already played her and passed all 5 levels. Hehe!
the forums are still up even though the game is gone, but probably not for long
i made a post yesterday and honestly i was really surprised to check it this morning and find the website hadn't completely disappeared already.

RUA forces have pushed father in to Canada. RUA president has said that it will not be longer until we have Ottawa.
Some of the Canadians have decided to join our side which will make it easier to conquer. Casualties have been minimum and we are closing in fast.
In other news RUA forces have declared war on EAT and have sent forces to Britain.
Forces have almost captured Cyprus and have begun sending supplies there for defense and for the docks.

The ancient educational game of Moksha-Patamu, was used to teach moral behaviour in India. Of Hindu origin, it taught the players that virtuous behavior would aid your progression to Nirvana, but evil would make the journey difficult.
The ladders were placed on the squares of virtue, which on the original game were, Faith 12, Reliability 51, Generosity 57, Knowledge 76 and Asceticism 78.
The snakes were placed on the squares of evil and were, Disobedience 41, Vanity 44, Vulgarity 49, Theft 52, Lying 58, Drunkenness 62, Debt 69, Rage 84, Greed 92, Pride 95, Murder 73 and Lust 99.
The Victorians, with their interest in morality, took the game to their hearts and brought it to Britain, and it was published in England in 1892.
Renamed snakes and ladders, the game was very similar to the one found in India, but some of the vices and virtues were named according to the Victorian social mores of the day, Penitence, Thrift and Industry became virtuous behavior that elevated you through the game, whereas Indolence, Indulgence and Disobedience became the vices. They also equalised the numbers of snakes and ladders.
In America the game is called Chutes and Ladders.
To attract more interst to the gaming club, president of gamers, Uriah Stanley, pulled out the big guns, or should we say consoles. With plenty of food and a game projected onto a large screen, that's all these players need.
The Blip Festival takes places once a year. It's where musicians get together and play their music inspired by 8 Bit gaming: think old school Super Mario and the rest.
