Diana is the call of the wild, the beating heart of the forests, the animal spirit within, urging us to remember our origins. She guides us back to nature; the need to feel the rustling wind through your hair, to hear the howling of a wolf or the echo of a voice in the forest.
These shots reminded me of the Ramsey Lewis and Earth Wind and Fire collaboration Sun Goddess . Also how much fun Ami was to photograph.
When a lovely lady told me that she loved both vessels and goddesses, well, I had a spurt of inspiration - why not a Goddess Vessel!!!!!!
Here's the first one I made out of van gogh silver glass which is where the lovely swirly colour came from.
She worked out rather well.

The goddess of the underworld sits on a throne, guarded by sphinxes and holding in her hand a pomegranate which by virtue of its multitude of seeds and blood-red juice was a symbol of fertility and new life.
I just love making Goddess representation in doll form. This is a felt base and back with baked clay painted face with yellow beading around. the flowers have beaded centers with ribbon sewn in. The hair is from two colors of yarn fibers.
Miniature goddess, stuffed with rosemary and red cedar. The stones are various colors of tourmaline.
She'll circle...she'll inspect and she'll test you. The Kaesti Goddess is not earth bound..but her incarnate is most certainly.

Meretseger's name means "She Who Loves Silence". Meretseger was the patron of the artisans and workers of the village of Deir el-Medina, who built and decorated the great royal and noble tombs.

reoccurring goddess imagery that keeps on surfacing in my work. This was just an excersize on pulling forms out of abstract strokes.
This mariners compass quilt was started last summer using Judy Mathesin's freezer paper method. I used part of a batik jelly roll that won in Katies quilting corner giveaway last year. The words peace, love and joy are quilted in the rays.
