Mount Meeker in all her autumn glory. This one was taken a couple years ago around the same time of the year and is right around the corner from our house.

Have a great Thursday!!!

A golden sunrise always gets me going and to witness the transformation of the sky is an experience I try to share. I hope you enjoy this beautiful morning.

Thanks for stopping by

I was given this Gloriosa Rothschildiana by a friend, to photograph.

Also known as Climbing Lily and Flame Lily, the Gloriosa Rothschildiana is probably best known as the Glory Lily.

This aptly named flower is strange and exotic looking, boasting 4-5 inch blooms with wavy-edged petals that face downwards in bud, but grow to reflex backwards, as though blown back by a strong wind.

Ruby red petals with yellow bases and edges look as though these flowers are on fire.

The bright green stamens and pistil are extremely prominent, with trailing sturdy stems and lush green leaves tipped with tendrils to aid in climbing.

As a native of South Africa, the Glory Lily grows fast-growing vines and can climb up to 8ft on a fence or trellis in warm weather.

Wishing you a beautiful day and as always, thanks for visiting, Magda (*_*)

Last image from Mt. Rainier's Sunrise area.

This was my favorite sunrise at this part of the park. One can see why it was named "Sunrise."

A series from the Paradise area of Rainier later.

Thanks for hiking along with me!

Morning Glory Pool is undoubtedly one of the highlights of the Upper Geyser Basin despite being less beautiful than it once was, since large amounts of rocks and trash have been thrown into the pool by thoughtless visitors, significantly reducing the water temperature. The pool used to be filled by rich blue water, with a narrow ring of orange-yellow bacteria only around the edge; now the water is more greenish and the algae band is much wider. The pool is 20 feet in diameter, 23 feet deep, round and symmetric, with a conical vent at the center, and may be viewed from a raised boardwalk that extends along nearly half its circumference. The spring drains westwards into the Firehole River, 100 feet away. It was named in 1883 for its resemblance in color and shape to the morning glory flower.

I thought this is another mural from communist times when I took this shot. But the painting "Wall of Glory" was created in 2017 on the wall of this pump factory and shows Decebal, the last Dacian king before the Romans invaded his kingdom. A clear nod to independency.

Convolvulaceae, known commonly as the bindweed or morning glory family, is a family of about 60 genera and more than 1,650 species of mostly herbaceous vines, but also trees, shrubs and herbs, and also including the sweet potato and a few other food tubers.

Morning glory was first known in China for its medicinal uses, due to the laxative properties of its seeds.

Most morning glory flowers unravel into full bloom in the early morning. The flowers usually start to fade a few hours before the "petals" start showing visible curling.

They prefer full solar exposure throughout the day, and mesic soils.

Some morning glories, such as Ipomoea muricata, are night-blooming flowers.

Morning Glories grow wild in these parts. I always carry my phone on my morning walks and take random photo along the way. This week I'm sharing some phone photos, even though I consider them inferior to shots taken with my Canon camera.
