The village of Moulay Idriss, Morocco, taken under an umbrella in the cold rain, It was cold and damp, the kind that seeps into your bones, the room at the guesthouse didn't have heating, it was a few degrees above freezing outside, we could see our breaths during breakfast. This is a conservative village, forget wining and dining, foreigners were not allowed to spend the night there until 2005 I believe.
Flickr chose my least favorite version to be on top, but I'm not going to bother to change the order.
The title refers to a rap song from 1989, those who are old enough to remember it will probably wish they could forget it as soon as they can.
When the shadows are there and the daylight is not gone yet, then both colours of night and day are dancing, creating the most beautiful rainbows you will see...

So this gives you some history behind the pseudonym that is "Funky Slug"....
It goes back to my college days and has its roots in The Magic Roundabout... lol...
Based mainly on Brian the Snail and the fact that I was in to Jazz Funk at the time....... so this was my tag..... but this is the first time it's been seen in colour...... thanks to photoshop and a wacom....

As a lot of the UK is either hit with snow or flooding - so far the south west has been relatively unaffected - but today's forecast is for light snow.
Quite where the snow will fall is difficult to predict so we might still miss the disruption it always causes in the UK.

The white balance didn't know quite what to make of this scene, so the colors are a bit funky, to say the least. But I like it.
The Legendary Funky Five piece @North Acton Cement Works, Central Line 1987, this piece stayed untouched for about 3-4 years!

This oil on water image was created for "Macro Mondays" this coming Monday 04/08/2025. This theme is .... (Liquid)
I photographed this image entirely outside using ambient natural lighting.
I used a large plastic clear pink bowl, then inserted a colourful piece of rainbow 🌈 material dry inside the bowl.
I then placed an oblong glass casserole dish above the bowl and filled it with warm water.
To this water, I then added a small amount of virgin olive oil and stirred it around to see that there was enough oil droplets floating, I then added a very small drop of dish soap liquid to enhance
the oil droplets.
Then I stirred this oily mixture around with a spoon and realised it looked ready.
I then took many macro images as the oil droplets floated across the colourful rainbow material underneath.
There you have it.
That's how I achieved my oil on water image using everyday items and no fancy high-tec gadgets, just natural sunlight.
Of course, I have edited it in the usual way on the computer, cropping, etc.
I can see a slight abstract monkey face in this image. Well, I have a vivid imagination 😅
If you see it too, this is somewhat unlikely?
But if you do, well, please let me know?
