We saw these flowers in Grand Teton National Park. Kind of a crazy, almost unnatural color in my opinion. Beautiful though.

So this is my 'Augusta Luise' hybrid tea-rose, named after Lady Augusta Luise, the muse of Wolfgang Goethe, one of Germany’s most famous poets and playwrights.
Her full name was: Countess Augusta Louise zu Stolberg-Stolberg (1753–1835), and she was a wild German chick!!
And so 'Augusta Luise' is a funky cool apricot and pink rose with old-world shaped petals, and a superb fragrance.
Champion rose grower Matthias Tantau created this rose variety in 1999 in honour of the 250th anniversary of the birth of Wolfgang Goethe. But, in fact, this rose first appeared in France in 1807 bred by the scientist Guyot, but then mysteriously disappeared.
It goes by other names including 'Fox-Trot', 'Rachel', and 'Hayley' and has been described as majestic, refined, sophisticated and flirtatious not unlike the Countess herself.
Goethe wrote of roses and the seductive Augusta Luise: “Flowers are the beautiful hieroglyphics of nature, by which she indicates how much she loves“

Dear Funky, you have been sitting in front of the open window all morning waiting for your friend Emmett. It's freezing outside and very cold. You'd better wait for your friend by the fireplace.
FUNKY: (shivering from the cold)
Bbb...but...from here I can see the plane landing
ME:
There are several planes flying at Eelde and we don't know which one Emmett is in. He's coming, I'm sure. Just have a little more patience. Come dear one, I'll make you some hot chocolate.

Celtfest expanded to Friday night this year, and the first group up was Ten Strings and a Goat Skin from PEI. They were a very talented group, much better than what one would expect from the opening act. I think they appeared so early because they had to move on quickly to other venues.

I don't 'do' flower shots.... so I funked this one up just for fun to make it a bit different.

Spotted in a dark corner in a Montreal metro station, this shot pushed my camera to the edge of its technical limits.
