FCCT has partnered with urban food groups throughout Austin to build a community that supports making healthy, local food available to everyone, including partnering with Keep Austin Fed for a community egg drive on Tour day.
The tour will have 14 coops, including both backyard and community participants. In addition to schools, a community garden, and a farm, a Community First! Village is on the tour. Visitors will see how collaboration between volunteers, artists, and the homeless—and formerly homeless--work to create the Genesis Gardens program.
Maps are $12 each and can be shared with everyone in your touring party. Create your own custom tour, on two wheels or four. You can join the Bicycle Tour de Funky Chickens, hosted by the Austin Cycling Association. Rides for various levels and distances will be available.
This year’s tour benefits the New Farm Institute, which is “working to inspire a new generation of sustainable farmers in the urban fringe.” FCCT in partnership with the Austin Permaculture Guild will create a food forest for our beneficiary. The tour is an event of the 501(c)(3) nonprofit Urban Poultry Association of Texas, Inc. and welcomes your donations.

This is a honeybee-size Bee Fly (order Bombyliidae, Diptera) on flaky sandstone near the FAA tower on East Camino Cielo road, about 3600 feet. Maybe it's genus Paravilla? Compare this photo by Alice Abelia at BugGuide. The coastal marine layer fog was still in the air, so the white balance is a little funky. It's an impressive fly, with pollen-covered legs and a frosted body. (East Camino Cielo, Santa Ynez Mountains, 25 May 2015)
Struggle street with this week's 'Funky' theme. My son was off to the neighbour's house for an afternoon play with his Lego, as I watched from the kitchen window I screamed 'STOP!'. Finally I had my shot for the 'M4H's' project! I love this funky lego container; it always makes me smile.
Looking out through the peep hole in the door of the motel room on a frosty Cooma morning. Lens flares, rainbow, funky perspective all naturally there. Only post processing was a little contrast and a crop to get rid of a huge amount of door!

My own (obviously) Funky Gibbons space marines. The painting is not the best but I put them on for teh lulz. I tried to hide the techmarine at the back with depth of field because that is fairly poor. I had to paint all the tails out of the logos when I realised that gibbons don't have tails. You can see the old style rank insignia from the Rogue Trader rulebook on the captain and sergeant.

These (apart from the two at the back) are plastic marines from the box set in Mk VI armour - much nicer design than the later Darth Vader robot style IMO!
The only zipper that I could find that matched the color of my Cuirassier's Cardigan was too long. So I had to cut off the top and improvise zipper stops. I cut off two teeth per side from the left-over zipper, snapped them into the top of of the zipper and then meltied them with a soldering iron. You can see on the right that my soldering iron still had a little solder on it. OOPS.
While these zipper stops are functionally very good, they are a bit funky looking. Next time I'll try to buy zipper stops that you can crimp into place.
