loads going on in town yesterday. Plenty of people enjoying the brief bit of sunshine, a "paradise" area set up by some advertisers (deodorant I think), and lots of street performers.
Exploring around the dark Bear Gulch Caves! Fun stuff indeed! This was during me and my cousin’s Labor Day hiking adventure at Pinnacles National Park. The park is located east of the Salinas Valley in Central California, about 5 miles east of Soledad and 80 miles southeast of San Jose, CA. We hiked thru trails with stunning scenic views, climbed and crawled thru the Bear Gulch Caves and more, then rested up and soaked in the views around the Bear Gulch Reservoir. The weather was a bit on the warm side so it was a bit uncomfortable during the first half of the hike but it cooled down as it got later (and was much cooler once in the caves). We tried to attempt to make the sunset at the coast after our hike, but we decided we have cut it too close so we just stopped for dinner around Hollister, mainly to finish our leftovers from lunch (Sonic) and grub on some goodies we grabbed from a 7-Eleven store there lol. What a fun adventure we had! ‘Til next time, safe travels! (Outing taken place Monday, September 2, 2024)
*A bit about this park: Around 23 million years ago, a series of volcanic eruptions shaped the landscape that is now Pinnacles National Park. The remnants of these ancient eruptions have formed a striking terrain of rocky spires and deep canyons. Visitors can explore diverse environments, from chaparral and oak woodlands to the cool, shaded depths of canyon floors. Certainly, this place is a must-visit if you are seeking for an adventure!
micky drove us to the top of the volcano Haleakala (God bless you, micky) and then we biked 40 miles down the volcano (actually, it was more of a coast-most of it was downhill). it was truly beautiful.
In the last couple weeks I've acquired some fun items. A couple weeks ago, we met up with littlepretty, her husband, their adorable little baby milo, and maddox their dog and in exchange I got these awesome letterpress cards. A couple weeks back I ordered this bag from morelle on etsy and it finally arrived from Greece on Monday. Today while picking up just a couple things at Target I found this cute felted newsboy hat and the orange wrap/scarf.
So a big YAY for meeting new friends and getting some fun new cards and accessories.
Tonight we had a very fun and last-minute photo shoot that made my day. I don't want to get into the details (you'll have to wait, my friends), but I'll tease you with this: sequins+whiskey+limo+cameras=damn good time. A great end to the week, especially before the fun road trip.
This is one of my most favorite sights ever-- looking down at the back of a horse's neck. This is a different horse than in the last pic. This one is a well-broke horse, except for this one little quirk he has about rearing straight up when he has a rider on him and feels trapped... Fun stuff. Fortunately, he's predictable and I can stop him before he does. Next step--get him to quit doing that at all!!
