When you live in Kansas, you don't get many opportunities at the beach to practice your sand sculpting skills. These were just a few scenes photographed at the Shawnee Mission Sand Volleyball courts, a fund-raiser for the Sunflower House, a child abuse prevention center serving residents of Wyandotte and Johnson counties in Kansas.

This couple shows that a house divided can still sculpt in sand together. I overheard the lady say she had earned a degree in sculpture from the University of Kansas - at age 60! Rock Chalk!

The next door neighbor was nice enough to explain to Ben how to drive a dirt bike.

My nine year old has soccer now so I'm sure this is just the first of many. You have been warned.

They have pony rides at the park for $4. This was a trotting pony and she was escorted around the ring with the lovely girl who works there. She bounced the entire way and didn't stop giggling. That was clearly a million dollar $4 pony ride.
