edited these 3 photos last night and uploading them this beautiful morning 7:00.
haven't yet started my classical music for reading routine but I might just do it rn.
These photos are all close-ups of tiny scenes I've found through the this amazing Nikon macro lens (enter the album below for more) around the house.
2 are the hard dried shells of domestic butternut and 1 is 'piljevina', as in the leftovers from cutting up the woods for winter and one rare green leaves as the November was already deeply entered our reality

So this is my daughters 8 month old golden retriever. To be honest I think she looks more like a confused lioness, but I digress lol. I wanted to test my new camera with my new lens the FE 28-70.I actually made a little mistake when I bought my camera. I’ve never shot a full frame before and bought the wrong lens meant for an apsc size camera. So unfortunately I had to own up to my wife on that one and sell it to buy the right lens(not a very happy wife). I was desperate to try it and I was extremely lucky to find a willing model for the price of a couple of chews😂 anyway I hope you will agree she turned out stunning;-).
The name.... refers to beetle larvae that emerge from the thawing bark of trees and other winter hideouts.

Continuing with the full frame series of my groceries, I am sure this could go on for some time. I feel like the lentils pop more than the walnuts did, I had better directional lighting today. Practicing this concept daily will help me improve in composition, make my subject selection easier since I am stressed about taking too much time, and create a series of photos for stock phototgraphy as well.

Wenn zwei Flüsse sich treffen
Wenn der von links einmündende Fluss Chemnitz genau wie die Stadt benannt wurde, hat der Fluss in einem gewissen Zeitraum dann auch Karl-Marx-Stadt geheißen?😅
The experience of observing sunlight through trees is one of life’s “pure and spontaneous pleasures”.
I was like a robot when the 4.30am alarm went off, making my way to the bathroom before struggling to open my eyes.
The plan was to search for woodland mist and fog on Dartmoor. On the way I came across a beautiful patch of pink tinted mist at Cadover Bridge but reluctantly decided to keep going in search of trees.
Unfortunately the visibility was good over the moors towards Princetown with just a few pockets of mist in the distance. Bellever Forest and Postbridge were surprisingly clear too but as the sun came up 30 minutes later the mist to rolled in.
I nearly crashed the car when I saw these mind blowing crepuscular rays beaming through this tree. “Oh WoW!”
There was no obvious place to park safely apart from a tiny clearing 100 metres away. A nonchalant cow occupied most of that space and wouldn’t budge at first and needed gentle persuasion. It’s mates that were blocking the lane were happy to casually moooove over. I grabbed my camera gear and swiftly headed to the ‘tree of light’ to capture in camera this wonderful surreal scene over the stone wall.
A minute later the soft mist drifted away and the light rays vanished.
I just happened to be in the right place at the right time. Although, having cow whispering skills helped, persistence and plenty of diesel in the tank driving up and down on the moors.
Feeling happy with myself I continued on the mini safari to chase the mist stopping for sheep, ponies and rabbits in along the way. It really was the best time of the day.

Experimenting with the beautiful autumn light. I really fell in love with way the light just touches the petals and leaves. The bit I’m not as happy with is composition, I was to focused on the natural light and took my eye of the overall composition. Unfortunately my assistant also slightly shook unitedly, causing the back of the flower to very slightly blur. So why post it then….while true there are parts I must work on I loved the autumn light and the fall off of the focus on the flower. I also made sure to get my focus and shutter speed nailed which I have had some misses lately with my new camera as I get used to the quirks of my equipment and learn how to achieve it all. I felt my original vision made for a lovely shot unfortunately it’s the execution I need to work So I maybe next time, which I guess is the message. It won’t always work but learn lessons and believe next time it will be great. Should note this shot is unedited straight from camera. This is something I have been working very hard on in my picture taking. Trying to get the whole thing right in camera, as you can clearly see,it’s still a work in progress😂
I guess one of the plus points with being so I’ll if I can call it a plus point. It is that I don’t get out a lot, so there can be months sometimes years between me revisiting areas. I have found as I’ve gotten older a sadness with some of those changes though. This is probably a good example in Irvine harbour, in north ayrshire. There is a lot of work new housing complexes etc being built in and around this area. Unfortunately it is also feels like it’s losing some of its old history and charm. This old building and the classic style lighting are prime examples. Sadly this harbour building which has long been an icon of the harbour looks stripped out along with all the lights being stripped to.
This building was The automatic tide signalling apparatus or Pilot House at Irvine harbour in North Ayrshire, Scotland, is a category B listed building, and is probably unique, having been invented and patented by Martin Boyd, the Irvine harbourmaster, in 1905 and opened in 1906.
