Smile on Saturday: Part of human face

My daughter in 2012

Colori accesi, brillanti, vibranti.

Full color at the Fontana

Bright, bright, vibrant colors. Compositions punctuated by overlapping lines and planes, geometries built on light.

Hyperreal landscapes, truer than real, surreal, suspended, often impossible. Misleading proportions where there is no room for man.

Distinctive features that immediately and unequivocally refer to the visual language of the master of photography Franco Fontana.

I apologize to the Master.

Sorry to Maestro Fontana.

Pick a Stick belonged to my Grandad over 80 years ago. Played throughout the years by my family, now playing Pick A Stick with my grandchildren.

Thank you for your kind visit. Have a wonderful and beautiful day! ❤️ ❤️ ❤️

It was a good day -

On a way to a State park, we learned of a huge accident on interstate so we had to take a detour of 3.5 hours instead of usual 1.5. But it was all worth it...wild flowers along countryside road were so beautiful so I had to stop and take it all in..

Black-throated Mango - Male - Occurring throughout the tropics of South America from Panama to northeast Argentina, the Black-throated Mango is the most widespread member of its genus, and among the most widespread of all hummingbirds. It is primarily found in open vegetation with bushes and scattered trees in many kinds of humid and dry habitats. Despite it widespread distribution it shows almost no geographic variation due perhaps to its impressive dispersal capabilities. Within its large range, the Black-throated Mango is fairly distinctive being the only predominantly green hummingbird with extensive black throat and underparts. Although they are common and widespread, and despite the fact that their plumage may seem "drab" compared with many tropical hummingbirds, male Black-throated Mangos are certainly worth a second look if the opportunity arises to view them in direct sunlight or at close range (Birds of the World) - as shown in my picture - LOL!

The full hunter's moon is beautiful as it rises over the orizon.

Yes, I do remember that day, the last holiday with French friends before Covid time, a picnic with them in a meadow of the Roussillon.

There I found this lovely wild succulent plant, I took a little branch of this for my balcony.

And now this is the first blooming at home!

I don't know its name, I add a picture in the comments for helping the ID.

Sense Of Something Coming

I am like a flag in the center of open space.

I sense ahead the wind which is coming, and must live

it through.

while the things of the world still do not move:

the doors still close softly, and the chimneys are full

of silence,

the windows do not rattle yet, and the dust still lies down.

I already know the storm, and I am troubled as the sea.

I leap out, and fall back,

and throw myself out, and am absolutely alone

in the great storm.

St. John's wort ready for drying

My strongest memories are of my grandmother. In addition to bearing her name, I also have many of her qualities and her loves. From her I learned to love flowers and birds, to cook and make wonderful sweets. She taught me how to dry herbs. This is my favorite picture because whenever I look at it I can even feel the atmosphere and smell of that herb as she prepares it for drying. The light in the picture is exactly what I remember, a constant play of light and darkness, because her house was surrounded by large trees, so the sun was breaking through the branches. As a background, I used the door from her kitchen cupboard and the plate from her garden table. Yes, I loved her very much and I miss her very much but I am happy that she knew I loved her.

Hello my amazing Flickr friends !

Today is a pink or purple day at Color my World Daily and the theme at Smile on Saturday is « full of memories ».

When I was about 9 years old, we moved from Poland to Algeria. My Dad was working there. As a little girl I missed my grandmother very, very much. Back then there was no internet and even telephone wasn’t a very efficient way of keeping contact between Poland and Algeria. So , for several weeks I was saving my lunch money to buy a gift for my grandmother. I got her this tiny necklace. I went to this flea market and I bargained with the seller until we both reach an acceptable price. And the necklace was mine.It is called « hamsa » (it means five) and it is a very, very popular amulet in Middle East. Hamsa is supposed to bring you good fortune and protect the bearer from the « evil eye ». It was a perfect gift for my grandmother, so far away from me… This amulet was supposed to protect her from anything bad. And it did !! My grandmother was always wearing this necklace. For years. The last time I saw her, she had her necklace with her. She told me that the necklace was reminding her of me and our family so far away but so close in her heart…. The necklace traveled with her, through Europe, Russia and almost to Japan. When she died, peacefully in her sleep wearing her necklace near her heart, she was at peace. At one point, I got my necklace back. It went from Algeria to Poland, from Poland all around the glob and then back to Montreal, Canada. Since then, I always keep it with me… I truly believe it will protect me from anything bad…and each time I touch it, it brings an amazing amount of very good memories.

And if you want to know more about « hamsa », here is the link : en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hamsa

Mucho, mucho amor for you all !! Have a beautiful day and see you later!!

Thank you so much for all your lovely comments / favs/ general support / happy thoughts!! Stay safe and well!! And see you soon on Flickr !!

Today's Smile on Saturday theme is full of memories. A very interesting theme, but hard for me. I have so many wonderful memories. Many of them revolve around our boat and the family and friends who joined us cruising. But even limiting myself to boating photos, there were so many truly awesome places that we visited, I couldn't chose one. So I chose this one - an everyday type of place and scene. Put it in mono since it's a memory now, as is our boat, which we sold in early 2020.

Have to make a break in the Italian series. Finally the so-called spring is here. It's still about 0 Celcius in the night and the first green foliage tries to appear. Love this period of full water in the meadows and the fresh green.

Thank you for all the comments and favs, my friends.
