The full Flower Moon sets behind Green Mountain with its iconic rock formations known as the Flatirons. The rock making up the Flatirons (Fountain formation) was deposited 300 million years ago by eroded deposits of the ancestral Rocky Mountains. The deposits hardened into sandstones and conglomerates and subsequently tilted at a steep angle during the uplift of the current Rockies 65 million years ago.

The Flower Moon gets its name from Algonquin cultural tradition for its correspondence with the appearance of spring flowers.

I used the photographer’s ephemeris app to find a location where the moon would drop onto the summit go Green Mountain.

Today's Smile on Saturday theme is full of memories. A very interesting theme, but hard for me. I have so many wonderful memories. Many of them revolve around our boat and the family and friends who joined us cruising. But even limiting myself to boating photos, there were so many truly awesome places that we visited, I couldn't chose one. So I chose this one - an everyday type of place and scene. Put it in mono since it's a memory now, as is our boat, which we sold in early 2020.

I almost forgot that I wanted to post a flower for friday !!
