Intention: I wanted the train to be in full front lighting (from the image's perspective, side lighting from the train's perspective), with the shadows from a nearby tree in the foreground. Figured that'd be a nice contrast.
Outcome: I do quite like the contrast between the well-illuminated subject and shadowed foreground. The second engine's exhaust leads into the clouds well, and again I like the interaction of the power lines. I know that tends to be unpopular but I feel like it adds to the industrial vibe.
(Also, this is getting super into the nerdery here, but the orange engine here is actually a rare leased engine, originally built for one railroad (BNSF) and then sold to another (Kansas City Southern), who instead of repainting the whole thing just covered the wordmark on the side and added their logo to the nose. I've literally never seen one like this before, and it was cool to be able to photograph.)
Edits: Crop, emphasis on shadows, perspective adjustments to make the poles parallel.
