DRI made from 3 exposures blended with Gimp and exposure blend script with my D90 and Kit Lense.
I Like the plain and natural way the Gimp script-fu "exposure-blend" produces DRI

In this photo my goal was to capture a portrait of me and my cat using strong front lighting and minimal shadows. I wanted it to feel soft and loving but also very candid and not at all posed.
Duechemin emphasized that although front light is common, this doesn’t make photos with it boring. They just need to be carried by something else, in this photo I tried to use emotion to carry the photo and let the lighting be only a tool.
I love this photo for obvious personal reasons. However I don’t think it’s as strong as it could be. I think it would look much better with stronger highlights and shadows which I was struggling to capture with the lights I had available and not utilizing any flash. I think my editing was definitely counterintuitive to this as well.
For editing this is probably one of my most edited photos yet, color wise at least. I did a good amount of work within the curves and I also did a lot of color grading. I used some effects to make it softer and hazier.
