My project meets project goals by improving the photograph through the use of light. The light is frontlight and is at the front of the subject. The light creates the shadows on her eyes and it illuminates her cheek with little dots.It creates a shadowy effect, that makes the light stand out more.
I produced this image at the playground by my house. it was a sunny day and my subject knelt on the ground behind the playground.The light shone through the holes on the playground reflecting below her eyes, on her face. The light also reflects behind her on the rock wall creating the shadow of the bars behind her. I did a good job on the difference between the lights and the shadows, but i could've had some more light on the right side of the photo.
For this shot I wanted to use the front light to get the most out of the yellow flowers. Freeman stated that yellow "has obvious associations with the sun and other sources of light, and especially against a dark background appears to radiate light itself." I wanted to replicate that feeling with this image with the bright yellow flowers and darker green background. To edit I had to bring the shadows up and the highlights down due to the direct light, I also brought the vibrance up a tad. I was pleased with how the yellow really popped out.

We slept with the rain fly off and woke with the sunrise. I snapped this photo and went back to sleep. Ahh vacations.

This photo uses light by backlighting the subject and making her stand out. By turning off the lights and having the one light source backlighting the subject, it creates an almost spooky mood and lighting for the photo. If the lights in the room were on, the dramatic effect of the backlighting would not be there and the whole spooky mood of the photo would disappear. I took this photo at night so there was no sunlight coming in through the curtains and frontlighting the subject. I turned on the hall light so I would have a bright light source for the dramatic lighting I was looking for. I then positioned my subject and tried several different angles for the photo. After I had several shots, I edited the photo of my choosing in Photoshop and made it black and white to make it more interesting and to help draw your eye to the subject. I think the thing I did well was use the light to capture the mood that I wanted. One thing I would have changed is maybe tried different locations for the photo instead of just that one doorway. I really like the effect the black and white has on the photo, I think it adds to the level of drama and mystery I was aiming for in that setting.
