There's nothing more fun than spending a Sunday afternoon walking around in pumpkin fields in New England in October. I shot these pumpkins on the Jones Family Farm in Shelton, Connecticut; the farm has been in the same family since the 1850's. I was shooting toward the end of the day and really liked the glow of the bright, but very warm afternoon sun. I used a slightly wide focal length (44mm in 35 equivalent) and was able to keep everything in fairly sharp focus at a middle aperture of f/9. The low sun is just at the right angle to reflect back of the buildings at Stratford as 2Y53 12:05 to Clapham Junction leaves platform 2.

Kenmerken van oude Mercedes-sedans zijn onmiddellijk te herkennen in deze Chinese Shanghai. In de daklijn en in de portieren is het Mercedes-Benz ‘ponton’-model uit de jaren vijftig terug te vinden. Toch stamt deze Chinese sedan uit het midden van de jaren tachtig. Dit exemplaar is rechtstreeks van de fabriek in het Louwman Museum terechtgekomen. Hij heeft nul kilometer op de teller en het fabrieksplastic zit nog over de bekleding heen.

De Shanghai-autofabriek wordt opgericht in 1958 en sluit zijn deuren in 1991. Het type SH760, met een eveneens van een oude Mercedes afgeleide zescilinder lijnmotor, wordt in China voornamelijk gebruikt als taxi of als dienstauto voor de minder belangrijke leidinggevende figuren van de Communistische Partij. Hierna gaat Shanghai Volkswagen-modellen assembleren, inclusief de populaire Shanghai Santana.
