This was the end result of 10 months of building plus an additional 2 months in planning and design. What you see here is a home that meets and exceeds the wildest of expectations and is truly an exceptional piece of craftsmanship. The style is what we like to call modern-traditional. It is a mix of elements of traditional home design and modern flair to create the "perfect" combination. The expansive footprint was a must considering the lot we had to work with was 200+ feet wide. The idea was to create a home that made a statement and made it's presence known, but that wasn't overwhelming or imposing. We didn't want a McMansion, we wanted a livable homey finished product that was elegant yet humble. Take note of the curved rafter tails. This is an expensive design upgrade but allows for the home to feel more welcoming and less tall and closed off. Its in small details like these that a masterpiece like this comes to life. This home has a sense of symmetry and balance, without being 100% symmetrical, which accomplishes our modern-traditional style goal. The wing walls are a must in all of our home designs, if feasible, and we went all out with them here. The two wing walls on opposing sides of the front door act to guide your eye to the entry of the home, making it that much more inviting. Mixed into the exterior facade you will also find all of the items you come to expect from a Pike home; exposed rafter tails, cedar brackets and beams, 30-year architectural shingles, etc. If you look closely, you will also see that this home boasts copper gutters! WOW.

This is Carmen, he is 23 yr old wild caught Blue Front Amazon that has been rescued from a bad situation. He has been with us for 15 years now and is much happier and healthier.
The cool side of me (in as much as one exists, you understand) wants to down play the whole Flickr Explore thing. That top secret algorithm that supposedly selects the most 'interesting' photos that have been uploaded to Flickr on any given day seems some what arbitrary, ignoring many great shots from many great photographers for yet another photo of a police car (what is the deal with the Explore police car fascination?). We upload our photos, the cool side of me says, for the sheer joy of sharing with like minded photographers, not to seek the acclaim of some lines of computing code, mindlessly sifting out what is considered to be 'the best'.
But then, there's the wee boy in me too. And he's very different from my cool side. Like any wee boy, he tends to get all over excited by recognition, from any source.
And so, when I recently discovered that one of my shots had made Front Page of Explore for all of two hours a couple of months back, the cool side of me said, 'Okay, so that's an achievement of sorts, but let's just leave it there, shall we? No need to bother anyone else with this silly business.' The wee boy in me had other ideas.
You can see which part of me won that argument...!! ;-)
