Morning Snowfall-December 13 2015
I haven't seen this much snow since 2006. I am loving it. I miss the snow sometimes. It's been forecast that our winter will be colder and snowier than usual.

I rarely do these, but seeing how the J.D. Robb display framed the room, I couldn't resist.

This is like the little planets/skies, only starting from the equator, rather than one of the poles.

My Laurel dress is made from a Malaysian sarong. The green printed panel used for the front took up about 1/3 of the sarong and the rest was in the purple pattern seen on the back of the dress.
The big bouquet motif is balanced but asymmetrical so it was a challenge to centre it on the front of the dress! There were two further identical motives on the purple background but it was impossible to cut the dress pieces to get a full bouquet on the back - you can see half coming from each side instead, but that worked quite well to make the jump from green to purple a bit less abrupt at the seams.
The floral border ran right along both selvedges and I've used it at the hem and on the sleeves. A sarong typically isn't hemmed so the selvedge is decorated too - I've left that showing; it's a finer, softer selvedge than you get on a lot of yardage fabric, because it's meant to be part of the garment.

This front desk use to belong to a big hotel and at one time an institution. Built in 1890, this old regal building now lies abandoned in wait for another chance to stay alive.
