Meeting people is one of the great joys of overlanding. These folks in Aktobe were using the games cafe we raided to get our blog updated - they couldn't have been more friendly, interested, or helpful.

Okay, it's not a National Geographic shot but it's only the second one of these I've ever seen and the first where I had at least a cellphone camera with me. He was maybe 18 inches long and was calmly poking his head in one hole after another and didn't seem too concerned by me. I left him alone in case I misremembered that Friend of Jack poem. 8)

newt is a one-shot subject; she sat down, did this, and i tripped the shutter. amazing.

encontramos lá, a querida e fofa Tati, e a Rô, da Paper Rose...

I met Shirley the first year I went away to school, when we were teen-agers in Grade eleven. Our faces have changed -- but the same "girls" look out of our older faces.

Arvin took this picture yesterday at Father's day party at his daycare!

I didn't help him at all,(not even holding the camera!)

And this is his framing as well, I didn't crop ....and left it the way he shoot it.

Abhinav is Arvin's best friend so far.

I just returned home from vacation on the high seas and here are a few of the pictures I took along the way. Here is a sea turtle from the turtle farm in the Cayman Islands.

THE MATERIALS AND THEIR STORY:

NOTE: the country stated is not necessarily the country of origin its the country where I got or made the item.

*Ceramic piece. ( Japan)

The imprint on these pieces of ceramic were made by pressing a piece of lace-like fabric into the clay.

*Little wooden beads. (Japan)

Small wooden Buddhist prayer beads, given to me by a friend in Japan, the strings were broken, these beads are a bit smaller then the usual prayer beads.

*Green leather. ( Netherlands)

As a little child we had a green leather couch. The leather couch got replaced and mom took the leather off. This Leather Is used in this necklace.

*Cotton string. ( Netherlands)

My grandmother´s father was a fisherman. This cotton string belonged to my grandmother and was used to mend the fishing nets.
