This is a scan of a photo that I found today while digging through some legal papers. I took this in '96, a bit more than three years before Paul passed away. Here, he is connected to a dialysis machine. For the last 15 years of his life, he endured three treatments every week, four hours each. Yet, he never once complained. He had more patience and grace than anyone I ever met.
The blue bag on his lap was filled with Dum-Dum suckers, which he shared with everyone at the kidney center, staff and patients alike. Paul was the most unselfish friend I ever had.

This is for MCP Actions 52 week project. The assignment was "Out of the Jewelry Box"; however, my personal jewelry box just doesn't contain much jewelry. I have a thing for watches though. I like them. A lot. Every day my watch is my companion and sometimes I can't determine whether it's my friend or my foe. I'm usually racing the clock, but sometimes it can bring me so much joy. Like yesterday when I got a few extra minutes with my hooligans.
The jury is still out on me but I'm getting closer. I'm not sure who is more sly...me or my friend..but HCS

let me preface this by saying i had a superlatively shitty day.
i didn't get home until about 8:30. sitting at the mail-filled dining table, we scarfed some take-out from cold spring pizza; florian had a chicken parm on a roll, i had the penne vodka. we caught each other up on our days, and decided to head upstairs to watch some "family guy" on dvd.
then i told him to wait.
i went into the kitchen, opened the freezer, and brought out a bottle of tequila (corzo, in case you're wondering -- MUCH better than patron). i grabbed two shot glasses, put 'em on the table, and looked at him. he smiled. and we each downed a shot, coimplete with the "ooooh" and "aaaah" and the pounding of the table. and then i poured us each one more, thinking hey, it's like a second glass of wine, right? they went down like buttahmilk.
and then inspiration hit. i got out the tripod. i got out the hotshoe flash. and i got out the remote.
see, one of the things that's been getting me down lately is how my commute -- which, mind you, i love -- robs me of any free time to do anything errandy (like buy christmas presents without the use of the internet). i wanted to do holiday cards this year, but we just ran out of time. (i come home, we eat, we vege for maybe a half hour, and we go to bed. rinse, repeat.) so a few days ago i suggested we take a photograph of ourselves in front of the tree, and email it to people.
hence the tripod, the remote, the flash.
this is an outtake, a test of the light. i did not know he did this until i went back and checked the exposure.
perspective is a spectacular thing.
Nerd didn't know I was taking photos of her. This was taken at Sand Harbor in Nevada. We were looking for a good spot to take photos of the fireworks on July 4th. Needless to say, we kind of got in an argument over where we wanted to plant our tripods and take photos of the fireworks. After arguing, we went our own separate ways... but somehow, we ended up planting our tripods right next to each other! Haha. We get in bad arguments, but what best friend's don't get into arguments? They just bring you "that" much closer ;).
Still love you Nerd... hahaha.
This is my newest Jenny Friend 'Shion' made by Licca Castle. Shion's one of my fave dolls in the Jenny line and probably also among my fave dolls by Takara-TOMY in general. The auction said she was part of the Castle Collection 9. I wonder which year that was in? Doesn't seem long ago. She has a cute bob cut hairstyle in a dark chocolate color, pink eyes and dark beige/light brown lips. Very autumn-y make-up which I love on dolls. The coolest thing would be if she had tan skin, too!
She was very popular on the auction and cost more than I'd usually pay for a Jenny Friend doll (most of my "doll hobby money" goes into my Licca collection ^^). But I don't regret it, she is amazing in person! The perfect doll I'd show someone I want to convert into a Shion fan LOLZ. ;)
