Some may recognize this eagle from an earlier post. I’ve re-positioned it against a different background from the same time in order to combine the best of the day’s offerings.

Fresh snow clung to the trees on the first day of the new year.

……A look back at Norfolk with fond memories, like many coastal places the mist can change the mood dramatically in minutes! And thankfully it can clear in a moment too! Come rain or shine, mist or clear the fish is always best fresh and you can’t get fresher than this!!….. Alan:-)

Indiana Railroad's Bear Run Mine to Hoosier Energy Merom Powerplant coal loads roll downgrade out of Sullivan, Indiana with a pair of the railroad's "new" SD70Ms on the point. After some low water trouble with the lead locomotive between Sullivan & Duggar, Engineer Chris Vasen now has the train rolling again only a few miles from spotting the train at the plant.

Woke up to my garden covered in fresh fallen snow. Everything looked so pretty, a few hours later it had all melted. This shows the rose-hips under snow, on my rose bush, in my garden.

Northern Cardinals molt in the winter giving them an amazing contrast to the dull, cold colors.

I do regret being a bit of a couch potato and not going out to get storm photos this weekend. By late afternoon on Sunday I was craving some fresh air so I popped down to Mudeford.

I wasn't expecting such a beautiful sunset - it got better and deepened to a vivid red afterglow.

When I arrived there were about 20 swans milling around and presenting a bit of a composition and focus challenge to say the least. I did manage to get a lot of them in but this one has the nicest sky.

I'm no wildlife photographer but I do have quite a good swan portfolio!!

7DWF, Fridays: Flora

Happy Fence Friday!

Just some fresh, opening spring bud peek-a-booing through a fence. Testing the close-up / macro abilities of the little "always-in-my-pocket" Lumix LX100. Macro with this camera "happens" at the wide end of the lens, so there will be some typical wide angle distortions, but it still works rather well with quite pleasing results.

Happy Flora, HFF (the 13th!), and a wonderful weekend to you, dear Flickr friends!
