*[We had such a good time at this new Hollywood Studio's exhibit back in Dec/2019 that we came back for the grand opening week of a new 2nd exhibit that they just completed. Unfortunately, many of the exhibits were shut down (including this new one) because it was too cold, the machinery does not operate properly if the outside temp is below 40 degrees, and we were at about 35 degrees! LOL For Florida that is very low! So, I just took all the new exterior shots.
They are pretty cool. Hope you like them. Thank you for looking]

prior (to above) on December 5th, 2019. Since we were in Orlando
for a company holiday-party we checked it out. As expected, it was jammed in the daytime with a 90+ minute wait for the ride. We went back in the evening (with a 35 minute wait) and it was very cool! With everything all lit-up at night it was fantastic and we truly felt
as if we were on the Galaxy's Edge! A must for the Star Wars fan!]

*[Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge is set within the Star Wars universe, at the Black Spire Outpost village on the remote frontier planet of Batuu. Attractions include Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, a dark ride that places guests in a climactic battle between the First Order and the Resistance; and Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, a flying simulator attraction that allows guests to pilot the Millenium Falcon through a customized secret mission on behalf of Hondo Ohnaka and Chewbacca. Restaurants and shops include Oga's Cantina, Savi's Workshop, and the Droid Depot. The land opened in 2019, replacing the park's Streets of America section. The 14-acre area cost an estimated $1 billion. - Probably why a park-ticket is $159.]
Animated character from the TV talk show series "A Captain's Log" (Star Trek news and interviews). The red haired animated android named Rogg beams down to his home planet Exo III to find a phaser he collects and will not use from the 10th episode animation short. Designed in Spring 2021 by Ian H. Stewart. Rogg is voiced by actor Nate Wrista.

For those of you following the 100 Strangers group, you might have heard the beginning of this story already. Over the weekend, I flew down to Melbourne with Pete for our annual stranger shoot with Neil. Why we always meet in May when it's ridiculously cold? I have no idea. But to sweeten the deal, Sylvia joined us from Perth this year as well!
Off to an early start, I spent nearly the entire day on the sidelines watching everyone else search out, approach and photograph strangers. It's always inspiring to see Pete and Neil at work and I was equally impressed shooting with Sylvia for the first time. After lunch, I was still stranger-less and the pressure was mounting.
It generally takes me a while to warm up when shooting strangers, particularly given how infrequently I go these days. This time it took a while to warm up both literally and figuratively. But towards the end of the day, I spotted Jessie by the tram tracks in Bourke Street Mall. Her sister was in town—visiting from LA where she has been living for the last six years working as an actress—and they were spending the day together with their mum doing some shopping. Jessie is also keen to do acting and is currently studying it in Melbourne with aspirations to become a screen actor as well.
Jessie agreed to a portrait right away and waved her mum and sister off as I led her towards a suitable background, explaining the project along the way. Afterwards, I was kicking myself for shooting on the "wrong" side of the tracks where there was less natural light, but I am a sucker for a plain white background.

The Oostvaardersplassen is a nature reserve in the Netherlands. Despite its young age, it is in a polder which was only created in 1968, it already has international importance as a European wetland. The Oostvaardersplassen can be divided into two areas: wet and dry. Before the establishment of the reserve, the dry area was a nursery for willow trees, and in the first year hundreds of seedlings could be found on each square metre. This led to concern that a dense woodland would develop, significantly reducing the value of the habitat for water birds. To avoid this, the park's managers brought in a number of large herbivores to keep the area more open, including Konik horses, Red deer and Heck cattle. These large grazing animals are kept out in the open all year round without supplemental feeding, and are allowed to behave as wild animals without, for example, castrating males. The ecosystem developing under their influence is thought to resemble those that would have existed on European river banks and deltas before human disturbance. Twelve hundred of the estimated thirty-six hundred cattle, horses, and deer have perished from today's winter starvation. Scientists and managers have deemed the deaths normal. People are not very happy that the government is letting the animals die. They see the Oostvaardersplassen as more of a zoo than a wild space. Well, I think the managers are doing the right thing to maintain a healthy population within the park’s carrying capacity.
A photo of Red Deer eating the fibres of tree trunks, food is very hard to find in the harsh winter taken at the Dutch nature reserve Oostvaardersplassen. She was very busy and didn't notice me sneaking towards her. I had to make some noise to get her attention. I took the shot and went back. She didn't run away but continue eating the fibres of tree trunks. Located between Almere and Lelystad. I did enter the park at the Kottertocht entrance. It is hard to survive the winter. All animals are kept without supplemental winter feeding. Many Red deer and Konik horses already crossed the frozen water in search for food. Some horses were stucked due to their weight did crush the too thin ice. These Red Deer where consuming the fibres of tree trunks, because food is very hard to find, although it is not there daily nutrition. Especially when there is deep snow, lack of food causes starvation among the weak and the strongest will survive . So the survival of the fittest keeps the herds strong and healthy. Also Foxes, which are quite common in this reserve, profit from carcasses of deer, cows and birds in winter. Maybe in future a pack of Wolves could do a great job as natural predators in this part of Holland.
Een bezoek aan de Oostvaardersplassen is een kennismaking met het Nederland van duizenden jaren geleden. Een ongerept moerasgebied, met uitgestrekte plassen en woeste graslanden. De natuur mag er onbelemmerd haar gang gaan. Uniek in Nederland én in Europa. Natuurliefhebbers komen hier helemaal aan hun trekken. Vogels kijken op de plassen, een excursie naar de edelherten, een fotosafari naar de grote grazers. Of maak een rustige wandeling naar een van de vogelobservatiehutten. De Oostvaardersplassen zijn het grootste moerasgebied van Nederland. De weidsheid is ongekend en de natuur heeft er vrij spel. Ontelbare vogels hebben bezit genomen van het gebied. Vooral in de winter is dat een spectaculair gezicht. Het witte besneeuwde winterlandschap is indrukwekkend kaal en stil. De natuur is er nog jong. Toch is het nu al een natuurgebied van internationale allure. De bomen, struiken en bossen zitten vol vogels, zoogdieren en insecten. Grauwe ganzen grazen in het moeras. En de honderden Heckrunderen, konikpaarden en edelherten geven het gebied een haast on-Nederlandse aanblik. Staatsbosbeheer verwacht dat door de strenge winter dit jaar 30 procent van de edelherten, heckrunderen en konikpaarden in het natuurgebied de Oostvaardersplassen dood gaan. Het gaat om ongeveer 1200 dieren. Op zich is 30 procent niet meer dan in voorgaande jaren", aldus Staatsbosbeheer. ,,Maar de kuddes zijn door de zachte omstandigheden van de afgelopen jaren flink gegroeid. In absolute cijfers is het aantal dieren dat dood gaat daarom wel hoger dan normaal." Voor de winter liepen er in het natuurgebied ongeveer 570 heckrunderen, 1140 konikpaarden en 2320 edelherten. In de winter is de sterfte, vooral onder jonge dieren, groot. In de Oostvaardersplassen worden ernstig verzwakte dieren die toch zouden sterven afgeschoten. Zo wordt hen nodeloos lijden bespaard.
The general term ice age or, more precisely, "glacial age" denotes a geological period of long-term reduction in the temperature of the Earth's surface and atmosphere, resulting in an expansion of continental ice sheets, polar ice sheets and alpine glaciers. There have been at least four major ice ages in the Earth's past. Outside these periods, the Earth seems to have been ice-free even in high latitudes. There is evidence that greenhouse gas levels fell at the start of ice ages and rose during the retreat of the ice sheets, but it is difficult to establish cause and effect (see the notes above on the role of weathering). Greenhouse gas levels may also have been affected by other factors which have been proposed as causes of ice ages, such as the movement of continents and vulcanism. Although the last glacial period ended more than 8,000 years ago, its effects can still be felt today. For example, the moving ice carved out landscape in Canada, Greenland, northern Eurasia and Antarctica. The erratic boulders, till, drumlins, eskers, fjords, kettle lakes, moraines, cirques, horns, etc., are typical features left behind by the glaciers.

A hummock is a boss or rounded knoll of ice rising above the general level of an ice-field, Hummocky ice is caused by slow and unequal pressure in the main body of the packed ice, and by unequal structure and temperature at a later period.

In het Engels wordt dit een periode van ice-house genoemd, als tegenhanger van een ijskaploze periode, de greenhouse ("broeikas"). Met behulp van klimaatmodellen wordt door wetenschappers een reconstructie van het klimaat en de klimaatveranderingen in het verleden gemaakt. Alhoewel er een zekere consensus bestaat onder wetenschappers, zijn er nog vele onzekerheden en tegenstrijdigheden in dit onderzoek.
Hierboven een foto van kruiend ijs. Zoetwatermeren kunnen spectaculair bevriezen. Grotere meren zoals het IJsselmeer (IJmeer) hierboven hebben bijna altijd wel golven, en dit werkt directe bevriezing van het wateroppervlak tegen. Eerst vormen zich kleine ijsschotsen, die naar de kust drijven onder invloed van de wind. Deze schotsen vormen zo een ijsveld op het water dat de golven dempt, en uiteindelijk vriezen alle schotsen aan elkaar vast tot een massa. Voordat dit gebeurt schuren de schotsen voortdurend langs elkaar heen en schrapen zo stukjes ijs van elkaar af; elke schots krijgt zo een witte rand. Zulk ijs is dus totaal niet geschikt om op te schaatsen. Wanneer grotere delen van het meer bevriezen beginnen de platen, die soms een paar vierkante kilometer groot zijn, langzaam tegen elkaar te bewegen onder invloed van de wind en stroming. Dit heeft kruiend ijs tot gevolg: de ijsschotsen worden met kracht gebroken en op elkaar gestapeld langs de dijken langs het meer. Dit hoeft niet alleen bij dun ijs te gebeuren; soms kruit het ijs bij een dikte van meer dan 20 cm. De stapels ijs worden dan hoog, en het geluid is oorverdovend.

Technical Seagull: Check the EXIF data and settings. Comment on the aperture and shutter speed! That is the essence of photography! Aperture 25.3 is better than 23.5!
Gear Seagull: Look at the camera and lens used. Praise the greatness of modern camera and optics! See if they use the right focal length. 300mm is better than 299!
Well-mannered Seagull: Always return comment to people who leave comment on your pictures!
Accounting Seagull: Substance over form! Subject is always the most important thing! When you see a self portrait, you want to say the subject is beautiful not the light, composition or camera skills!
Composition Seagull: Give your suggestion on the framing and arrangement on elements in the shot! Crop it! Rotate it! Put it upside down!!
Film Die Hard Seagull: Film is King and Queen! Though he or she is dying! Point out all the ridiculous tricks in digital editing and bring back the beauty of film (and wet darkroom).
Always Great Seagull: Use “Great” “Fab” “Amazing” “Beautiful” “Wonderful” and no other adjectives!
See the Light Seagull: If there is light, there is picture. If there is good light, there is good picture. If there is bad light, there is bad picture. It is that simple!
Ego Massage Therapist Seagull: Don’t criticize. Give supportive comments only. Everybody needs an ego massage after a long day’s work!

The hard winter freeze has come to Parsonsfield over the past few day's bringing record setting cold and strong North West winds.
Wind blown water spray on Long Pond has created many ice formations along the eastern shoreline.
A winters hillwalk around the Cramalt Glen in the Scottish Borders. Brrrrr it was a crisp cold one but it was a lovely day..

Finally the seagulls took notice of me and they talked to me!
Seagulls: Hey man, what are you doing here?
Man: I am looking for the best composition.
Seagulls: Have you found it?
Man: I don’t know!
Seagulls: …… (sigh)

I NEVER expected this to turn out because as you can see, by the time we had got to Downhill Beach it was almost pitch black.
Mr. Killen had his tripod and you beaut Canon 5D and I actually hadn't intended to take any photos because my Lumix doesn't cope with this kind of light.
Out of idle curiosity I put the flash on and yes, its grainy (but I like grainy), but it managed to capture tonight's glorious moon with its shimmering path of gold over the waves.
Aside from a bit of a crop, straight out the camera.
BETTER ON BLACK
Sleeping under the stars on a cloudless night in the middle of winter is not something I dream about - which is in stark contrast to the awe inspiring, panoramic view of the Milkyway that this allowed me to see. The sky was crystal clear (did I mention freezing cold?) and laying in a swag looking up at the billions of stars and galaxies and just being mesmerised and humbled by it all I had to wriggle out of my comfy warm cocoon and set my camera up. In the dark, unprepared, I grabbed my 20mm lens screwed it on, wound it around to infinity and then set then set the aperture, shutter and iso - timer delay - and pray! There is no way that these images do the sky that night justice, but facing west, seeing the glow on the horizon from the city and that wonderful celestial cloud...almost makes me forget how cold it was!
Sunrise after a very cold freezing night with temperatures of -15 celcius. The clouds on the horizon come from the cooling towers of a power plant. The vapor from these towers once fell in a wide strip like snow.

I don't know you... but I really do appreciate Winter (yes, it's possible with a ray of sunshine and very warm clothes ;-). I like the feeling of the wind on my face, the cold, the snow and ice covering everything, the silence, the light playing with the ice... lots of amazing shapes, sculptures and transformations happening near "my" lake... hope you will enjoy these pictures (more to come)!

From 10 to 17 September 2011, Voronezh celebrated its 425th anniversary. The anniversary of the city was given the status of a federal scale celebration that helped attract large investments from the federal and regional budgets for development. On December 17, 2012, Voronezh became the fifteenth city in Russia with a population of over one million people. Today Voronezh is the economic, industrial, cultural, and scientific center of the Central Black Earth Region. As part of the annual tradition in the Russian city of Voronezh, every winter the main city square is thematically drawn around a classic literature. In 2020, the city was decorated using the motifs from Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's The Nutcracker. In the year of 2021, the architects drew inspiration from Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tale The Snow Queen as well as the animation classic The Snow Queen from the Soviet Union.
