In a convenience store in Mexico.

I bought chips there. The lady behind the cash register suggested I buy him chips, for the boy. The boy also suggested I buy him chips. I bought him chips.

Still some space left ...

especially in the bottom compartment :-)

Top compartment is B&W stuff (mostly 4x5" and 8x10")

In the second compartment there is medium format film (Velvia 50 and Provia 100 and 400)

Third to sixth compartment contains mostly Fuji slide film (mostly 4x5" and 8x10" film: Fuji Velvia 50, a lot of Portra 100F, and a small collection of Velvia 100, Astia and Kodak E100G boxes)

A bag I freezer-paper stenciled. I added some raw-edge applique. More info here:

Mikrat-300 (expired 1971, freezer stored) Shot at 32 ISO - Pentax K2, 135mm f/2.8

Negatives were extremely contrasty and some were underexposed. Need to extend dev times with less agitation. Or maybe go back to 12 ISO since I really liked the results from it.

There was a weird sticky yellow layer on the base (opposite the emulsion) that I had to clean off by hand in soapy water.

The base side is smooth this time which is good, but it looks like the emulsion is acid damaged and still suffering from reticulation.

I looked at an undeveloped and a developed piece of the film strip under a microscope and found that the acetic acid from the base-side has created microscopic bubbles under the emulsion. The bubbles cracked the emulsion since this happened when the film was frozen, this is why the affected areas have sharp spikes outward.

I have never seen acetic acid damage this bad before, but this is the oldest microfilm I have ever developed, so I guess that makes sense.

Developed for 16 minutes in Caffenol-CL:

9.6g washing soda

6g vitamin C

4.2g iodized salt

24g instant coffee

600mL water

4 inversions every minute

WEEK 32 – Sam's Club Pre-Remodel, Set II

Here's another look at the giant freezer units. (The two shown here are, in fact, the ones for frozen foods; I've just taken to collectively calling all three units freezers rather than repeating “freezers and fridges” over and over!) While the rest of the grocery department will reportedly see major changes, I can't imagine that these monsters will be changing all that much. As a matter of fact, I believe they're literally built into the salesfloor! The fronts (seen here) and sides (obviously) feature shelves of items with doors for customers to open and reach into, while the backs of the units (not shown, but kinda visible in this pic) have huge garage-type doors for employees to enter and lots of stock stacked up inside, not dissimilar to the way pallets of dry goods are stacked to the rafters elsewhere in the club.

WEEK 15 – Mansfield, OH, Target (V)

(cont.) ...being the closest department to the registers. Sure seems like an odd placement for grocery, doesn't it? In newer Targets that have been PFresh'd, grocery is always along a side wall of the store, and even in the older Horn Lake store, the pantry area is along the right-side wall, not the front, as it is here. Grocery remaining in this location is something very odd these days for a Target, but in actuality used to be its common home in many stores, including Horn Lake once upon a time (!). In this store, grocery still up front means that the selection is pretty small compared to other Targets, but it still seemed to fit a lot in from what I remember. This view looks down the row of freezers toward the exit.

New Beginnings & Dawn

We recently got a new chest freezer. It's great, now I can stock up!

Remodel, Week 32

Stepping out into the actionway beyond the new dairy cooler, we see two of the three old coolers: non-walk-in, and much, much larger! Unlike the previous “frozen foods” and “refrigerated foods” signs, the new signs are comparatively more relaxed in nature, so to speak, simply advertising “freezer” and “cooler” :P (You can’t see the one marked “cooler,” of course, but rest assured that it’s still there – just out of view to my right.)

In the foreground, you can see the new home of all the prepackaged sandwich bread, which I mentioned earlier.

WEEK 31 – Hernando Kroger

Transitioning into the freezer section now, where we’ll spend the first several of our final batch of photos tomorrow as well. This shot was aimed at showing you guys the purple trim on the millennium cases (yep, even the cases match!), but for some reason my phone has never done well at capturing it. Try l_dawg’s pic from the produce section here instead for a better look… and stick around for those last pictures uploading tomorrow!

Not sure on the age of this unit; newer enclosed upright freezers (as seen in background) have made these monsters somewhat obsolete.

Also--I foolishly passed on a proper photo, but this store had only ONE frozen food item remaining in stock days before closing...copious frozen pie crusts! (barely visible inside freezer)

ODC-Neccesity Is The Mother Of Invention

This huge freezer was in the basement when we moved in. We don't need it so we converted it into a storage unit.

This freezer bag has outlived it's usefulness.

ODC-Shelves Or Drawers

When we moved into our home 2 years ago the previous owner left this huge upright freezer unit. We really didn't have a use for it, so Stu has repurposed it into a storage unit. It works great and holds a lot!

Taken to storing leftovers in containers in the freezer for future lunches. *so proud of self*

I got more attention than usual today, 4 different women complimented me on my attire and looks. Do women do this regularly? It felt really nice.

The 120 isn't expired, but I just got a box of expired 120 today. The rest is expired. The IBM box is full of expired film as well. There's more, but it's in a freezer at work until we can make room for it at home.

This was a quick morning project for a baby gift. For more info and link to tutorial, go here! www.dabbled.org/2008/06/stenciled-robot-onesies.html
