The Prince had fallen in love with this woman, this nymph... But day after day he would leave the castle, on the hunt.

Always hunting the elusive creature with a golden coat, a swift Hind that ran freely through his territory... Always getting away, just out of reach of his arrows...

Then one day, he returned from the hunt to his castle and love... He knelt and asked and vowed everlasting love for her.

"My love," she said, "I beg of you one promise and I am yours. Forever and always."

"Anything. So long as you are my Queen and I your King." He replied.

"End your hunt of that creature. I want you here... with me."

The Prince hesitated.

Long had he hunted the golden creature to the point of obsession. Yet he also yearned for this woman. She was the other half of his heart...

"I will not hunt the Hind any longer..." He lied and she believed him.

Few days passed before, riding through his territory, the Prince caught a glint of gold in the distance. Like a ravenous dog, he salivated.

"Men, one last hunt!" He called to his kinsmen.

On horseback they thundered and surged towards the creature. Caught in surprise, it ran again. Ran swiftly through the trees and brush, but instead of going deeper into the forest... It headed towards the castle.

"Finally!" The Prince thought in triumph as the hounds bayed and howled in close pursuit behind the doe.

Its hooves clamored on the cobbled stone of the courtyard before the palace. The Prince notched an arrow to his bow and let it fly.

It flew straight and true.

It struck the Hind whom collapsed at the foot of the palace steps. As the Prince dismounted from his horse to inspect his kill... The Golden Hind transformed.

No longer a doe with golden coat but his love with her golden hair.

The Prince cried out his anguish.

"How can this be!" He cried and cradled her in his arms.

"I begged you to end the hunt..." she replied weakly. "It is I who you found at the stream so long ago, bathing. And it is I who ran through your territory so often to see my handsome Prince..."

"Father! Please do not punish him! He knew not what he has done!" She cried to the skies as a thunder roared above and dark clouds rolled forth.

With a last shuddering breath she sobbed again, "Please!" But her pleas fell on deaf ears.

For she was the daughter of a God of Nature and she the nymph that protected the palace forest. This God roared a storm above as the Prince held his love close to his chest and wept.

"I will be lenient for my daughters sake but you shall be punished!" The formless voice above rumbled. "You will become what others fear and what you are in your heart!"

And with that, the Prince was cursed and transformed into a hideous Beast...

On a country road in Mecklenburg County, Virginia is a line of old stores of the "ghost town" of Union Level. This is the remaining gas pump at the service station at the edge of "town". I prefer this shot in color to the b&w. Some of the character of rust and vegetation gets lost in the b&w version. The other side of the pump shows gas at 36.9 cents/gallon

Water increase because of the rain, and please choose the one by which a flow becomes clear.

A mountain went to the deep valley stream.

I expect, it's clear for water, and, the quantity of water is also rich.

A heart danced in wonderful location in !

The place where a flow of water is also intense in particular at the inside for me, search

I walked.

The flow full of uplifting feeling what I have in mind did finally upstream

NI could touch.

The creature who rises at all freely flows in the condition for water.

charmed me repeatedly.

Beverley Westwood on a dull June morning in the East Riding of Yorkshire the town of Beverley is a few miles away, cable are allowed to roam freely here! There is also a golf course, where people can roam freely too! In Monochrome.

The quantity of water decreases to the winter, and a valley stream in a late fall goes.

With a lot of facts, because but rain continued at the beginning of autumn this year.

The flow of water is gentle and I'm seeing and please.

Water is also a valuable theme for me, that?

It's also a romance.

The trees with which a valley stream is surrounded give the color off clearly, the one water

The harmony is excellent and charm does something to see, and it doesn't stop.

Such time and space also seem to be a dream for me.

It's done and that it's happy, intolerably, keenly aware of.

It's so.

It's in green of the trees and moss of a rock by the valley stream with deep pile of the early summer.

Green who revives is vivid, and, forest, ravine and valley stream

A stretch is filled with a pleasant minus ion.

.

Japanese is the race which loves green basically, so this.

That a season is met, the wonderful season, regret

I go out to the taste which cries in hills and fields, the, it's also beautiful short.

It's satisfied with the moment without reserve.

Located in Massachusetts between Bourne (Cape Cod) and Buzzards Bay (mainland), the vertical lift bridge opened in 1936 and carries rail traffic across Cape Cod Canal. When open, the main span has a 135-foot (41 meters) clearance. The span is 544 feet. It's especially interesting to see how a train can cross the canal. A recreation area of sorts is on the Buzzards Bay side. Check out the video that explains how the bridge works at www.capecodtimes.com/videos/news/2023/01/25/how-cape-cod-...

“Question me then, my Oinos, freely and without fear. Come! we will leave to the left the loud harmony of the Pleiades, and swoop outward from the throne into the starry meadows beyond Orion, where, for pansies and violets, and heart's—ease, are the beds of the triplicate and triple—tinted suns.”

Edgar Allan Poe

If you are in the southern hemisphere you will immediately recognize the Orion Constellation in this very modest image and, if you are in the northern hemisphere, you will surely say: "Orion, the hunter, with his head down." The truth is that, wherever you are, you will agree that Orion is one of the most beautiful constellations in the sky. In my childhood I was taught to see it as a sword made of precious stones and, since then, I always saw it that way: the M42 nebula is the hilt, the Three Marys - Alnitak, Alnilam and Mintaka -, the guard of the sword and the group of stars that forms the head of the hunter, down in the image, where the star Meissa, the tip of the sword's blade, is located.

This constellation has magnificent treasures, such as the IC 434 nebula, which, in contrast, allows us to see the dark Horsehead nebula, the emission nebula NGC 2024 (known as the Flame nebula), the Witch's Head (IC 2118) and the queen of the constellation, M42 (just to name a few of the best known). Do you want to take on the challenge of finding them in the image? Four beautiful stars complete the dazzling scene: Rigel (the brightest), Bellatrix, Betelgeuse (the orange star of the constellation) and Saiph.

I captured this simple image with my Nikon D5600 camera, Nikon 18-55mm lens, at 45mm, f/5.6, Sky-Watcher EQ3 equatorial mount. The capture software was digiCamControl, stacked with Siril and a very basic preprocessing with GraXpert and Siril. In the end, very slight post-processing in Gimp.

Everybody's talking at me

I don't hear a word they're saying

Only the echoes of my mind

People stopping, staring

I can't see their faces

Only the shadows of their eyes

I'm going where the sun keeps shining

Through the pouring rain

Going where the weather suits my clothes

Banking off of the northeast winds

Sailing on a summer breeze

And skipping over the ocean like a stone

I'm going where the sun keeps shining

Going where the weather suits my clothes

Childhood living

Is easy to do

The things you wanted

I bought them for you

Graceless lady

You know who I am

You know I can't let you

Slide through my hands

Wild horses

Couldn't drag me away

Wild, wild horses

Couldn't drag me away

I watched you suffer

A dull aching pain

Now you've decided

To show me the same

No sweeping exit

Or offstage lines

Could make me feel bitter

Or treat you unkind

Wild horses

Couldn't drag me away

Wild, wild horses

Couldn't drag me away

I know I've dreamed you

A sin and a lie

I have my freedom

But I don't have much time

Faith has been broken

Tears must be cried

Let's do some living

After we die

Wild horses

Couldn't drag me away

Wild, wild horses

We'll ride them some day

Wild horses

Couldn't drag me away

Wild, wild horses

We'll ride them some day

In 1827 Samuel Smith acquired land from the Carsley family and erected a store at this crossroads location. In 1855 Mr. Gwaltney bought the property from the estate of Samuel Smith and operated the store until 1878. J.W. (Watt) Rogers who ran the store for about 16 years before buying the property in 1894 and building what became Rogers’ Store. What was known as Gwaltney’s store was turned into a storage space. The store closed in 1952 and the property was later converted into a local museum. The Surry Historical Society acquired the property in 1999. Rogers’ Store was added to the National Register of Historic Places May 30, 2002 with ID number 02000595. The store is in rural Surry County, Virginia. The nomination form is included in the sources listed below.

During the many years of operation, it was “an early post office, a pharmacy, a radio assembly and repair shop, a publishing company, a lumber company, a chemical company and the Surry-Sussex Telephone Company.” en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rogers%27_Store] It also served as a saw mill.

Gwaltney’s Store is located behind the 1894 building. The 2-story building had 2 rooms and was built of mill-sawn lumber. It has a front gable with metal roof.

The 2-story Rogers· Store has a front gable facade with returns and a metal roof. It also has a full-length front porch with a metal shed roof and four slender turned posts typical of the Queen Anne style. Both stories were used for retail sales; apparently the shelving inside still exists.

In World War II, German U-boats terrorized shipping in the Atlantic region, not just military vessels but merchant ships as well. The United States Congress authorized strengthening the nation’s naval air presence. Weeksville, near Elizabeth City, North Carolina was the location of one of the air stations. The base's proximity to Cape Hatteras and to Norfolk with its naval installations made the choice a good one. Construction began in 1941 on Weeksville Naval Air Station; the pictured blimp hangar was completed in 1942. A second hangar of wood was completed in 1943. Steel was the material of the first, but wood was used for the second because of a shortage of metal. The base covered 822 acres and had over 10 miles of railroad tracks. The steel hangar pictured here is 960 feet (290 meters) long, 328 feet wide (100 meters), and 190 feet high (58 meters) or the equivalent of 20 stories in height; it covers more than 7 acres (300,000 square feet). The doors of the dome are called clamshell doors and the leaf of each weighed 420 tons. A view of the ends of the hangar shows an overlapping of the surface of the larger hangar area. The dome is supported by arched steel trusses; the flooring is concrete.

This steel hangar could house 12 of these giant K-class blimps, which were 252 feet long en.wikipedia.org/wiki/K-class_blimp . They were armed with machine guns and depth charges and had a crew of 18 men. Shallow enemy subs could easily be spotted from air, allowing for the deployment of depth charges. The blimps provided escort for coastal ship convoys, and they performed search and rescue duties. The airships could cruise at 60 miles per hour (for up to 38 hours) and had a range of over 2000 miles. In early 1942 many ships had been attacked off the Carolina coast, as frequently as every other day; after the airships took to the sky, the attacks dropped to 1 every 2 1/2 months.

In 1946 the last dirigible left Weeksville. Then until 1948 the facility was storage for fixed-wing aircraft. Finally in 1957 the naval air base ceased operations for good. After a stint as a furniture plant, the wooden hangar was sold in 1986 to TCOM, an aerostat manufacturing company. The wooden hangar burned in 1995; TCOM then bought the steel structure in 1996. The company manufactures airships and is not unusual to see the aerostats in the air over Elizabeth City. The company has a Facebook presence www.facebook.com/TCOMLP/

This image of a Ferruginous Hawk shows what a 'bad-ass' this amazing hawk is. Taken on our vacation in 2014, I spent the day at the Arizonia Desert Museum where they release raptors from the desert to fly freely overhead and land on perches for your viewing pleasure. It's one amazing show and worth the visit if you're in the area.

Thank you for your visit and comments...have a wonderful day!

Dedicated to my friend Fergus … may you always dance as freely as the wind … <3

An Old Irish Blessing

"May the road rise up to meet you.

May the wind always be at your back.

May the sun shine warm upon your face,

and rains fall soft upon your fields.

And until we meet again,

May God hold you in the palm of His hand."

“In the end, only three things matter: how much you loved, how gently you lived, and how gracefully you let go of things not meant for you.”

FIELDS OF GOLD - STING

DO YOU REMEMBER

Do you remember when you were a squaddie

the ballroom dancing lessons that we had

we would twirl around the room so fast

like swirling dervishes among the lads

I would step on your feet; trip over your heels

you would laugh at me fit to burst

oh, Fergus MacDonald where are you now

that I've mastered and got over the worst

you went one way and I went another

I had to finish my education

somebody told me you went to war

and my heart sank at this revelation

as it struck me to my inner core

into the unknown we stepped so often

sharing; multiplying our confidences

our eyes met and the world was softened

how I wish that you were dancing with me now

but mine was to be a different dance

I see your hair so red and mine so blonde

in my mind's eye we stood a good chance

I still think of you when the Harvest moon

is like a big orange ball in the sky

do you remember me like I remember you

with a smile and a whispered goodbye

I still have foolish notions and schoolgirl dreams

big ideas and ridiculous fancies

I used to make you laugh until you nearly cried

with my endless schemes, plans and romances

do you remember the book you loaned to me

I still have it waiting for you

Tess of the D'Urbervilles, do you remember now

I hope I can return it to the boy I once knew

Would I know you now if I saw you in the street

you were just a young lad last I saw you

but surely I'd know you from anyone if you opened your eyes

for they reflected my own eyes of blue

I still think of you on a cold Winter's night

in front of the fire; my ears tuned to the news

but I fear you are lost in the trenches somehow

with your eyes opened with all that you knew

a dug-out somewhere in no-man's land

or an unmarked grave; my heart-felt clenches

why do they call it friendly fire

there's nothing friendly when someone's heart wrenches

how little do I know even now of the ways of men

those who wage war and why

politics seems everywhere in all the things that we do

may I remain innocent until the day that I die

wherever you are and whoever you have become

know I think fondly of you dear Fergus

and if ever our paths were to cross again

I believe that we would complete the circuit

the bonds we made during those teenage years

so strong they remain unbroken

memories of the plans we had

and all the words so softly spoken

sometimes they come to me here on the wind

quietly and indistinct

or I may see your face in a crowded room

disappearing as I overthink

and that is me dear Fergus, all over

I feel; I see; I think too much

as rarefied as a four leafed clover

and like a game of double dutch

I trip over the rope, like I trip over my tongue

clumsy as ever my dear

still I think of you and wish you well

while I still yearn for those teenage years.

The main purpose of spending two days in Ranthambore National Park on safari was to find the elusive Bengal tiger. We were told that each Bengal tiger can be located anywhere in its own 60 square km territory.

Many visitors sadly leave the park never having seen this elusive cat. We were much more fortunate than them. Here is one of 3 Bengal tigers we saw during our 4 excursions through 4 different sections of the park. This image shows a Bengal tiger sleeping in the jungle, near our vehicle. As you can see, these tigers blend in very well into their surroundings.

Ranthambore National Park is a large wildlife reserve that located in northern India in the Sawai Madhopur district of southeastern Rajasthan. The park covers 1,334 sq km (515 sq mi), and is famous for its Bengal tigers which roam freely throughout the park. It is also home to many other protected animals and plants including the Indian leopard, sambar, sloth bear, nilgai, wild boar, striped hyena, southern plains gray langur, rhesus macaque, mugger crocodile, chital and a wide variety of trees, plants, birds and reptiles.

Dhamrai is a natural habitat for hordes of monkeys roaming freely foraging for food! In a densely populated area as Dhamrai, both humans and their illustrious predecessors are usually cramped for space and clashes sometimes become inevitable. At such times they do not shy away from showing their aggressive intent (as in the image below in the Comm Box)!!

[A series of 3 photos] On Puryear's Store Road, near Finchley in Mecklenburg County, Virginia is a simple small country church. There is no sign showing the name or denomination. The building seems to be in good condition (the roof looks recent) with the property being maintained. Rectangular in shape with a gable metal roof, the frame clapboard structure has no steeple nor foyer. There is a single interior chimney. The entrance is double wooden doors. Three windows are on either side; they appear to be painted blue rather than stained glass. A sort of apse extends slightly from the rear of the building. I can't even suggest a date for this basic vernacular house of worship. The setting is quiet, somewhat isolated, with some substantial trees in front providing shade.

There was a light rain when I took this photo from the street. A lot of the architectural features are not visible from this location because of trees. Can you spot the Gothic birdhouse? On the Hill is a George F. Barber home.

[There are currently 18 images in this set on this amazing home.]The name of this mansion is On the Hill, the most spectacular of Boydton Victorian houses. The original core of the building was a cabin from the 1790s which was then converted into a farmhouse in 1830; in 1887, the dwelling was remodeled and this is the result. The original cabin is the far right side of the house. Features include a high-cross gable roof with a terracotta gargoyle perched atop the front gable; a three-story tower with ornamentation rising from the bay window on the porch; a full porch that extends the length of the front of the house; a small second-story porch or loggia above the entrance framed by gingerbread and a semi-circular opening; highly decorated tympanum on the third story above the porch; shingling; triple window in the gable; a carriage port and much more. George Finch, as a wedding present to his wife Alice, presented her with $5,000 and told her to spend it as she would. With that money, she was able to convert the entirety of the 1830 farmhouse into this Queen Anne beauty. The asymmetrical porch is simply amazing with many segments ranging from the gazebo influenced portion on the right all the way to the carriage port. A frieze extends the length of the porch except for the semi-circular effect next to the gazebo. It rests on stone piers infilled with brick. Despite is grandeur, the porch is very comfortable and welcoming. The owner told me that the house has its resident ghost. Virginia Department of Historic Resources ID: 173-5001-0126. It is part of the Boydton Historical District which was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2002--#02000511

The creature who rises at all freely flows in the condition for water.

the most creative state of mind sometimes is being half "aslake" letting one's mind wandering freely those chaotic oneiric realms of its own creation ....

Happy Slider Sunday everyone :)

Hello!—My exhibition, Rêverie, at the stunning Leica Gallery Porto opens this afternoon at 4pm. The show features 46 of my silver gelatin prints and includes works made in France, Italy, USA, Scotland and England. I look forward to meeting as many of you as possible at the gallery

“Rêverie. It represents the idea of daydreaming, a state of introspection, a kind of waking dream where the mind wanders freely. Much like in nocturnal dreams, from which we often awaken confused, not knowing when and where we were, in this waking dream, we can also confuse what we imagine with reality. Only what we feel or the emotions we experience remain clear in our memory in both states. Rêverie is precisely this, a delicate dance between the real and the imaginary, where through seemingly unrelated moments in time and space, we are transported to a parallel place, where Kit Young’s unique sensitivity masterfully transforms the fleeting into the ethereal.”

Annecy Venetian Carnival

As every year, more than 300 Venetian masks and costumes strolled freely through the streets of old Annecy and on the ledge of the lake. No one knows who is behind these sumptuous and wonderful costumes and masks.

Nicknamed the Venice of the Alps because of its beauty and its canals, the city of Annecy welcomes perfectly this carnival which takes place over 3 days.

Hello there, welcome back to another Cyberpunk build. As you may know now, I’m became to more diverse person in terms of themes, so be ready to see some non-Star Wars content. This build took me about three weeks to complete and due to Corona, I’ve now got more time. This build takes place in the future in which where criminals roams around freely with no one to stop them. This build was inspired a bit by [Intense Potato] with his colorings. The two pods were also taken inspiration from a building in Japan called the Nakagin tower.
