Hauled right out to the sidewalk in Brooklyn, the owners hopefully had a for sale sign up. It was a busy and sunny Saturday, with major Halloween festivities in the nearby park, so maybe they got a lucky offer! It's got to be about a hundred years old, since this manufacturer's plant burned to the ground in 1922, and that was the end of that company......

What a beautiful pairing wind and grass is. The rustling sound, the flowing, graceful movement. Can't photograph wind, but the motion of tall grasses represents it well.
An everyday fruit that we all seem to take for granted - but one I love to celebrate and feature, especially when the oranges have leaves as well!

這歌有故事的... Lori Lieberman 去聽了Don McLean的演唱會，心裡卻是百感交集，後來就和另兩位創作者寫下這首歌，Killing Me Softly With His Song... 周日午後，聽歌吧~
I loved going through my mother's tapes, searching for songs I hadn't heard, of course, lots of them. She had to work out of town in my childhood, so every summer or winter vacation was our time together. I'd like to check on her tapes to see if she'd got more collections, and this one amazed me because there was a story behind it... Lori Lieberman went to Don McLean's concert and came up with these words: 'I felt all flushed with fever / Embarrassed by the crowd / I felt he had found my letters / And read each one out loud / I prayed that he would finish / But he just kept right on' ... What a beautiful story! Then I got to know about Don McLean, and more singers...

We're running out of new diners to go to, and with some misgivings we pick one that has brown stools and drab wooden booths in the pictures online. Imagine our big surprise when this is what we find! No wonder there weren't many people there. They REALLY need to update their website! The Eagle Diner was #7 of this year's Eat in Eight, and a happy choice for us. We enjoyed breakfast for lunch and set off to see what the town of Pine Hill, NJ was like....

The lilies have more or less finished and are making a fair bit of mess now too if honest. But it was worth saving one or two before they went to the compost heap.
Two candles were used as just one tea light was not enough.

Two youngsters have just discovered the birdbath! The Starling is eagerly spraying water with its flapping wings. The young Blue Jay is so excited it's wagging its tongue! I have never seen this expression from a bird before or since!
Taken with my first digital camera back in '05! Digital SLRs had yet to be invented. Though the quality here is not what it could be today, at the time this was considered to be very good. It is one of my favorite photos, as its subject is timeless and so much fun!

The intersection at Shibuya Crossing in Tokyo, during the evening rush hour. I don't normally like crowds, but this is something to behold. Taken on our trip to Japan last Fall.
Apparently, people in Tokyo get out later than we do in California. I sat in the Starbucks overlooking the crossing at 7 am on a weekday and the intersection was totally empty. I was surprised because 7 am here is the peak of rush hour.
