Heavy rain through the forestry at Betws y Coed followed by some autumn sun created this lovely mist.
Appelbergen is de naam van een voormalig militair oefenterrein en tegenwoordig een bos met heide- en veenrestanten ten oosten van Glimmen, in de provincie Groningen. De Appelbergen liggen op de Hondsrug, de grote rug die zich op de grens van Drenthe en Groningen, uitstrekt van de stad Groningen tot voorbij Emmen. De plas middenin het bos is een restant van een groter rond meer (mogelijk een pingoruïne) dat tegenwoordig een vrijwel niet te betreden moeras is.

Appelbergen ist der Name eines ehemaligen Truppenübungsplatzes und heutigen Waldes mit Heide- und Torfresten östlich von Glimmen in der Provinz Groningen (NL). Die Appelbergen liegen auf dem Hondsrug, dem großen Höhenzug, der sich von der Stadt Groningen bis hinter Emmen an der Grenze zwischen Drenthe und Groningen erstreckt. Der Teich mitten im Wald ist ein Überrest eines größeren runden Sees (möglicherweise eine Pingo-Ruine), der heute ein praktisch unpassierbarer Sumpf ist.

Appelbergen is the name of a former military training ground and nowadays a forest with heath and peat remnants east of Glimmen, in the province of Groningen, the Netherlands. The Appelbergen are located on the Hondsrug, the large ridge that stretches from the city of Groningen to beyond Emmen on the border of Drenthe and Groningen. The lake in the middle of the forest is a remnant of a larger round lake (possibly a pingo ruin) that is nowadays a virtually impassable swamp.
Normalmente non si vedono mai le radici di un albero, ma sono fondamentali per sviluppare le chiome e le cortecce utili per proteggerci dalle difficolta' della vita.
E le nostre radici?
Proviamo a scavare, a cercare a fondo nel nostro intimo per vedere un po di che"pasta" siamo fatti!
Certo il periodo non è dei più propizi, la crisi principale del nostro tempo è proprio della nostra coscienza.
Valori? Nulli.
Certezze? Men che meno.
Spiritualità? What's?
Ma veramente ci si è così inariditi al punto da non sapere piu' in cosa credere?
Ci pensavo l'altro ieri, con la scomparsa di un grande Uomo del secolo scorso ma che anche adesso farebbe la cosidetta "differenza":
Vittorio Foa, una persona che aveva fatto della sua vita una missione:
contro ma a favore,
deciso ma tenero,
grande Vecchio, ma giovane di spirito come pochi.
Fino all'ultimo si faceva leggere i quotidiani e aveva per tutti una parola di conforto o di consiglio, anche se non mancava mai di dare paterni scapaccioni.ù
Ha fato tutto e di tutto, dalla resistenza al carcere per le proprie idee, all'impegno politico, all'Assemblea costituente, persona di rilievo della Sinistra e al tempo stesso voce critica della Sinistra stessa, Sindacalista con la ESSE maiuscola.
Radici......eccole le nostre radici, fondate sull'impegno personale, sul metterci la faccia e non avere paura delle proprie idee, anche se sono una voce nel deserto.
"Nell'uomo, in ogni uomo c'è una grande possibilità di cambiamento" , amava ripetere, credeva nell'uomo e aveva la certezza che..
"Essere a sinistra vuol dire essere qui e anche altrove, vivere oggi e contemporaneamente domani; vuol dire agire per sé e anche per gli altri."

The storm of last winter left its traces. So it was on time to clean up the forrest. Its surly not a bad work with such a view.

My third installment in the Wax Nostalgic:1994 show back in 2018, where I mashed two movies from that year together; you may have seen my previous shots of Pulp Ventura and Natural Born Airheads. Everyone who participated in these artworks are local musicians in the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky area. I couldn’t decide which scene I liked best of the ones I took. There’s Jay and Silent Bob in front of the QuikMart hassling Forrest as he runs past Lt. Dan, and there’s Forrest offering Jay a “chocolate”. So I mashed the mashup together. Total mashness. This was so much fun!!
