Another one of the rock formations at Widemouth Bay.

I know very little about geology but have read online that these are Silesian, mostly from the Bude Formation and date back to the Carboniferous period, more than 300 million years old. They were formed in a giant tropical lake (Bude Lake) that folded when Britain and France collided.

All eight of the cygnets on the Bishop's Palace Moat came racing towards me this morning doing practice takeoffs. They need a bit more practice at the formation flying though!

Broken, jagged ice on the Bow River riverbed creates beautiful patterns and formations as it freezes, shatters, and re-freezes.

Höckerschwan - Mute Swan - Cygnus olor

Roxborough State Park, Colorado.

Captured six years ago when the winter was more severe than this year, and when the lakeshore was full of tall ice formations like the one above!

Summer is beautiful, yes. But winter is full of its own beauty if one can see it and is willing to venture into the cold, the snow, and the ice.

This image was captured while I was out and about in the ole Jeep, weaving through cornfields, on a trip to the town of Mt. Orab, OH.

I drive this route often, and for reasons I can't explain, this small section of Ohio farmland continually yields truly beautiful skyscapes and wonderful cloud formations that the firmament just a few miles away never seems to match. I can't figure it, so I just enjoy it and try to always have the camera with me when traveling through this area.

Cool cloud formation

You'd be forgiven for thinking that this is something solid and permanent but its not stable and is probably no longer there! It was caused by rainwater run-off down the sandy cliff face. It was caused by storm Gertrude. We've had Henry since and the sea and waves last night will have washed this away and more besides.

looked for more 13/02/2016 but none to be seen but signs of a lot has fallen this winter so far!
