Nein, da ist kein Feuer mehr in der ehemaligen Schmiede, aber der Sonnenuntergang spiegelt sich in den Fenstern.
There is no longer a fire in the former forge, but the sunset is reflected in the windows.
Taken during a long weekend in Valley Forge in 2010, - newly re-edited using today's Lightroom, Photoshop and DxO Photolab.
We were lucky to meet mikonT - one of my Flickr friends - in Audubon, Pennsylvania.
Valley Forge played a major role during the American Revolution.
Driven by the need to escape the brutal cold of December 1777, the Continental Army arrived at Valley Forge and immediately prioritized shelter for its 12,000 soldiers and camp followers.
Out of necessity, they turned to the trees.
The math is staggering: A virtual city of huts, each structure taking 80 trees, arose in a matter of weeks. In addition, the accessible forestry was also used for defence structures, fires and other supplies.
Amazingly, however, not every tree at Valley Forge was felled during Washington’s stay.
One of the most impressive survivors, the Pawling Sycamore, still stands.
The tree is 25,5 meter tall and with a spread of 43 meters.
It is about 285 years old.

Valley Forge was the winter encampment of the Continental Army, under the command of George Washington, during the American Revolutionary War.
The Pigeon Forge Parkway is usually very dense in traffic. Especially during holidays and weekends when the average speed is slower than if you were walking. But that is a testament to the popularity of the town which is filled with hundreds of shops and family orientated entertainment attractions. On this particular weekend, a classic car rally occurred with literally thousands of old cars and trucks filling the road and parking lots.
There are magnificent views in Valley Forge. As I have been discovering and recording its history, I have also been discovering its beauty. This particular place is a great place to go and watch the sun set. As you can see the sun has not yet set but is low in the sky. It lit the crest of the hill for a short time and I was lucky enought to be there when it did.
