Stanier Black 5 steam locomotive 45231 The Sherwood Forester. The ex-LMS engine is pictured at the Severn Valley Railway autumn steam gala on Saturday 17th September 2022. This was the 11.55 a.m. train from Bridgnorth to Kidderminster. Sherwood Forester is pictured south of Bewdley on the gradient up to Bewdley Tunnel.

45231 Sherwood Forester returning from Carlisle after Saturday's steam leg on a Settle & Carlisle tour. The Black Five and the shorn sheep are seen from Cliff Lane on the outskirts of Acton Bridge.

With a backdrop of the Long Mynd 45231 Sherwood Forester is seen approaching All Stretton on a "private charter" from Crewe to Carmarthen. Class 20 D8107 was tucked in behind but hey-ho I was out and about and the display of steam was excellent.
Apparently the diesel came in useful as the Black Five was failed at Llandeilo and so D8107 took the carriages on to Carmarthen.

I found this butterfly alongside an asphalt road in extreme heat. It seemed catatonic, and it sat on my hand as we walked home. I put it on a shaded flower and photographed it, placing sugar water right next to it on the flower. It was gone the next morning: I am not sure if it revived or was picked off by a bird, but it was not found nearby.

I am so happy to see that there are a lot more butterflies and Monarchs around this year after seeing almost none 2 years ago.
The image is from automated focus bracketing with a Helicon FB Tube, and Canon 5dsr in burst mode. Two sets were taken: one with a high F stop for max depth of field and the second with a low F stop for a good bokeh. The two images were blended in post.
