A small duck with steep forehead, rounded head, and stubby bill. Male's colorful plumage appears dark from a distance. Female has three white spots on each side of head; belly is pale. Locally common along rocky coasts; moves inland along swift streams for nesting. Male's call is high-pitched nasal.
It was a pleasure to co-shoot with my friend and fellow photographer Rob Melone.

Are you smacking your forehead for missing out on these truly spectacular roads by Luca Python of Blue Sky for FLF last week? Well, they are full price now at 990L.: but they are well worth it. As with everything he does, Luca has worked hard to give an impeccably textured and designed product for us to enjoy. Shown here are the cobblestone version of his roads (also available for 990L)_ Keep an eye out for more texture packs in the future, too! In the mean time, do yourself (and your sim) a favor and go pick these up!! ♥

These very large, powerful eagles are also striking in appearance. They are dark but dramatically colored with white tail, shoulders, rump, thighs and forehead.
Habitat and Range
These eagles are believed to breed only in far eastern Russia, along the coasts and surrounding islands of the Sea of Okhotsk and Bering Sea. They are most common on the Kamchatka Peninsula.
Each winter, many Steller's sea eagles migrate from their breeding grounds to Japan, and a few reach Korea or even farther afield. Other individuals do not migrate, but simply move to open water as winter approaches.
Hunting and Diet
Open water provides these eagles with their main food sources along coastlines and lakes. In their breeding grounds, Steller's sea eagles subsist largely on salmon, and they both hunt and scavenge for this resource. Annual salmon runs provide an enormous bounty and Steller's sea eagle nests are typically located near coasts and rivers where these fish appear en masse.
These birds of prey hunt from a perch or from flight by diving and clutching prey in their talons. They also stand in shallow water or on the ice and grab passing fish when the opportunity arises. Like other eagles, Steller's also steal food from other birds.
In Japan, Steller's sea eagles feast on cod. In addition to fish, they eat crabs, shellfish, squid, small animals, ducks, gulls, and carrion.
Population
Steller's sea eagles do not occur in large numbers, but their populations appear to be stable. Their feathers were once highly prized, but today these magnificent birds are protected throughout their range. They are especially revered in Japan, where they are known as O-washi.

Unknown characters with light on their forehead slithering under the night. Common astrophotographer, often confused with the following: an obsessed mountain creature, a yeti, a ghost, a lost cop, or another creature active only at night. It features a yelling at clouds, seeing different beings and objects in the sky, long and boring talking about invisible things. It often talks in numbers and shortcuts, for example: set ISO 6400, aperture to 2.8, do not forget RAW and sRGB, 5780 Kelvins. In the wild, he is usually shy, characterized by poor integration with the female gender. He loves correct weather forecast, long nights, and feet in warm. Among his weaknesses belongs full moon, a forgotten card, a discharged battery, or foogy night. This was a brief characteristic of our kind.

Adults are grey overall; during breeding, their plumage is usually much worn and stained, particularly in the migratory populations, and looks nearly ochre. The average weight of the larger males is 4.57 kg (10.1 lb), while the average weight of females is 4.02 kg (8.9 lb), with a range of 2.7 to 6.7 kg (6.0 to 14.8 lb) across the subspecies.Sandhill cranes have red foreheads, white cheeks and long dark pointed bills. In flight, their long dark legs trail behind, and their long necks keep straight. Immature birds have reddish brown upper parts and grey underparts.
Phaps chalcoptera
Crown is purple-brown; forehead is pale blue-grey in females and white with buff patch in males. White cheek stripe from beak, under the eye and curves down the side of the neck. Sides of the neck are blue in males, blending into pinkish-grey breast; females have much less blue along the neck while retaining the pinkish-grey breast.
Bronzewings, like other pigeons, secrete a special milk-like substance from their crop, which is fed to the young chicks.
Bronzewings can often be seen pecking for seeds at the sides of quiet country roads. They are easily disturbed however, and fly off with surprising speed.
They’re underneath your bed…running across your forehead…
While capturing this photo along the beaches of Ft. Pickens Florida this past March, I grinned ear to ear from the joy-filled memories of a night that included the Sand Crab. Memories of a night that brought a small band of misfit youths to nearly be arrested by four different police officers in four different locations. Cindy Lauper famously sang about how girls just want to have fun…and they do. Please know upfront that in this story I was merely the innocent host trying to show my future bride and cherished friends a good time. But then alcohol got involved…
It was the summer of 1984 when I got the call that my then fiancé Joann, and friends Terry and Nikki (Last names withheld due to possible statute of limitations issues) were making the drive from Jeffersonville Indiana to Charleston South Carolina to visit Mark and I. Unfortunately, Mark had duty the evening of their arrival, thus passing the hosting responsibility to a much younger John Dattilo…who’s hosting experience at the time consisted of asking if a guest would like a beer. So that is exactly what I asked when the ladies arrived after the 10-hour drive. A unanimous yes was received.
Officer encounter #1: Not having much money at the time, it was decided we would drive to the Charleston Air Force Base to buy the beer. It was worth the drive to save a buck or two but we also knew that historically, any rule broken while on base would result in tickets/arrest of visiting Navy personnel. We provided them the same courtesy if visiting our bases as well. Knowing that the USAF MPs keyed in on open containers, as host it was my responsibility to share this insight. Just as the warning was exiting my mouth, the distinctive sound of an ice-cold beverage being opened echoed from the back seat. In that same second, blue lights appeared in my rearview mirror. The front gate was in sight, we almost made it.
While providing all my credentials to the officer, I explained how the ladies were visiting from Indiana and we needed alcohol. I’m sure all three ladies were providing the saddest of eyes as an act of contrition as he inspected the inside of the car. A warning was offered (maybe the first ever received by a sailor) and my information was returned. Before departing he offered me that little grin that said…three girls, you squids (a term of endearment for a sailor) crack me up! We departed the base, feeling very lucky and heading for the beached of the Isle of Palms.
Officer encounter #2: Believing at the time that it was a sin to let cold beer get hot, our first stop after the base was to get ice for the cooler. Sitting in the parking lot of a roadside convenience store, I had just finished icing down the beer (a huge, time-honored responsibility of any good host) when a sheriffs car pulled alongside. Being over 21, I knew there was no problem this time. We spoke briefly as he passed between our cars. His kind southern smile instantly disappeared when he looked inside the car and viewed an open bottle of rum. For the second time in the last 20 minutes, I was handing an officer my license and registration.
For the next few minutes, the officer informed us of all the fines and penalties that he could impose. However, due to all four of us providing the saddest possible looks (Google “Cartoon Puss in Boots sad look” if interested in how we looked), he took the open rum bottle, provided us with a warning and sent us on our way. Driving from the parking lot we felt so lucky…having no idea that we were only half way there!
Officer encounter #3: At sunset we arrived safely at a remote area of the beach as far from any other people and officers of the law as possible. I remember caring the heavy cooler through the deep, loose sand…trying to be a good host…acting as if it wasn’t heavy. It was a cool evening as I also remember wearing a red hoodie with large white letters spelling out INDIANA…unknowingly, the hoodie would come back to haunt me in just a few hours!
We sat and consumed many beers that evening near the dunes. There may well have been some other harder libations consumed…this part is a blur. I know we took dozens of polaroid pictures, none with duck-lips as we were way too cool for such a pose! Pictures that I would pay heavily to have now and wonder if they may still exist. It was a very dark night, so a couple of flashlights were brought out. Within minutes we were chasing sand crabs up and down the beach…difficult to catch sober…impossible when not.
The movie Ghostbusters was a huge hit and apparently, we had all seen it as someone started calling us “Crabbusters” leading us to begin singing the song “They’re underneath your bed, running across your forehead…who are you goanna call…Crabbusters!!” What a great night it was, laughing so hard, I remember tears in my eyes as I knew this night would live in my memory forever.
We were less that a hundred yards away from the cooler, chasing crabs in all directions when the bright white lights way down the beach were noticed. So many lights and so bright, at first, I thought it was a UFO! We all stopped and stood silently in the darkness and it came closer and closer. I had no idea that the local police department had a beach patrol, we quickly learned that they did and what it looked like. The vehicle stopped by our cooler, now surrounded by empty beer cans and shined a side mounted spot light on all of our stuff. Without noticeable reaction, he turned off the side light and proceeded directly towards us. We quickly agreed to do the right thing and deny any knowledge of our mess.
As the officer came to a stop, he immediately asked it that was our cooler up near the dunes, and like a group of overly caffeinated chickens we all started telling him at the same time that it wasn’t ours…the most suspicious response we could have given. We then started telling him that we saw someone farther up the beach and it may be theirs. He seemed to be ok with the new information and slowly started driving away. It was then that one of our chickens took the lie to the next level, running next to the police car telling the officer that they were a mile or so up the beach. Without response, he immediacy made a U-turn, driving now strait back to the cooler. We all stood in shock as someone muttered the words…” oh no, the pictures!!”
To this day, the walk back to the cooler has been my longest. When we arrived, the officer was out of his car, squatted down next to the cooler with a flashlight in one hand and a fist full of polaroids in the other. We just stood there…all looking very sad with slumped shoulders…for the third time that evening. I’ll never forget seeing that man luminated face as he flipped to the next picture, one of me wearing the bright red hoodie…looking intently at the picture, then shining his flashlight into my chest and then back on the photo. A brilliant way to express the word gotcha!! It was then that the chorus of chickens returned, only this time expressing sorrow. As he stood up, he expressed how he didn’t appreciate being lied to (He would have died if he knew he was the third officer of the evening…but the first lie) and what we could be charged with. By the grace of God, we were granted a third warning and told to clean up our mess and go. It was decided that we should return to the safety of Marks apartment to continue the nights festivities.
It was an hour of the night that I rarely see anymore when we arrived back at Marks. Having great neighbors, we could have stayed in the apartment and continued the party as long as desired…that would have been the smart thing to do. Why start now with good decisions.
Officer encounter #4: The decision was made to go swimming in the complexes swimming pool…a pool that had been closed many hours before. Since we were on a first name basis with the manager, we authorized ourselves access. I thought we were being quiet, but I guess not since the police were there as if we call 911 ourselves. We were rounded up for a one-way discussion of the word trespassing, provided a fourth warning and told to conclude the party.
We decided to listen this time as the ladies were going to be visiting for a few more days and we needed to pace ourselves!
Since that night, now 37 years ago, sand crabs have always made me smile.

The wigeon is a medium-sized duck with a round head and small bill. The head and neck of the male are chestnut, with a yellow forehead, pink breast and grey body. In flight birds show white bellies and males have a large white wing patch.
Wigeons breed in central and northern Scotland and also in northern England. Many birds visit the UK in winter from Iceland, Scandinavia and Russia. With large numbers of wintering birds at a few UK sites, it is an Amber List species.

The light cost 5.99 from Thorns and I've already spent more that than on reflector bulbs by doing stupid things like this. Still, the cheap blue plastic is nice and shiny. Like my forehead.
Lampist: 1 plastic clip light swinging around a bit.
The end is the beginning
Part 1
I was going to ignore the small dot on my forehead, but I had a dream 3 nights in a row where I died – usually I take dreams metaphorically – so dying in a dream would signify a new beginning – not actual death – but when a dream persists, it can mean you are not addressing the situation. So I went to the doctor.
Dream (1 of 3 different ones).
I was in an office, large, open plan, plenty of light and activity – it was a lovely space, we all knew each other and there was a great atmosphere. Then the sky outside began to change, a deep beautiful grey turned dark, then green - outside became black with sparking lights.
An apocalyptic storm was approaching.
I thought I saw lights in the sky, inside the storm. As I watched, fascinated, the world around me turned into chaos. People running for the exits, others brandishing small curly tubes in their hands. The tubes glowed softly with points of soft blue light. They held them up and were lifted out of the building and began to fly off, over the storm, into the distance. Going somewhere a little more sunny and calm I thought.
I noticed that I too had one in my hand, it glowed beautifully.
A family friend emerged from the corner of the office. I’d not quite noticed before, but I think he’d always been there, watching me go through life, waiting for now. I felt detached and calm amid the panic around me.
He held out his hand, “come”, he said, “you are safe with me”.
Then we were flying up out of the building, the people scrambling in the office below seemed from another world. The city was in panic and I looked up and saw, he had a large tube of light, I sensed there was love and power. And I understood, I was leaving this world, I was going home.
Dream Ends.
Each time I awoke from a dream I was left with a strong sense of love, peace and acceptance– It felt like a guardian angel had come to take me home. So the dream cycle has made me experience the feeling of going home, not dying, and that in a way, is a great comfort.
Part 2
When I went to my doctor, my doctor didn’t know what to make of the small blue dot, so she called another doctor, who knew what to make of it. He suggested my doctor enlist the help of another doctor to help her remove it.
However, my doctor went away on holiday. When I tried to see another doctor instead of my doctor, I was told there was no other doctor other than my doctor who could see me. So two weeks later, I saw my doctor with another doctor, who took one look at it and said “oh, that’s not good. I can’t touch that, you’ll need to see yet another doctor, or should I say, surgeon for a biopsy”.
I made a few calls and got myself put on the urgent list for the biopsy. When I saw the surgeon he asked me why I was so worried about a perfectly concentric blue dot, as it’s the wrong shape and colour to be dangerous. All blue dots are benign, well, except in the rarest of cases.
I said “It’s a little inconvenient to die at the moment”, but I felt reassured by his certainty that all was well.
Dream 4
That night - I had a dream that I was backstage, in a dressing room – the make-up person was removing parts of my face and patching it back together again with paste – I got a little worried, but he told me not to worry – once he was finished I received the curtain call and went back on stage and saw myself performing under the lights. It was fun out there and I loved it.
End of Dream 4
Now I don’t base my entire life around dreams, but sometimes we are given a little help to set our minds mentally for the task ahead. My reading of this is that I will have some more time, but it’s going to be a long rough road.
Ah, alas, the reassuring surgeon was wrong, I am stage 3-B as it has metastasized into the lymph system. Survival odds, about 60% to make the next five years. I will make the best of it, and win, because I know if I don’t, my wife will kill me :-).
Advice, thoughts and your
own experiences are most welcome.

Breeding males are beautiful and distinctive with rich reddish-brown head, buffy forehead, pearly gray body, and pinkish breast. Look for large white wing patches in flight. Females are plainer warm brown overall, with a small pale bill. Very difficult to distinguish from female American Wigeon; note warmer brown head on Eurasian with little contrast between head, breast, and sides. Also look for dirty grayish, not bright white, underwings in flight, but this can be difficult to judge, especially at a distance. Widespread and common in Eurasia, breeding at northern latitudes and wintering south to central Africa and Southeast Asia. Typically in flocks on lakes and wetlands, often grazing in nearby fields. Regular winter visitor to North America, especially on the west coast, usually in very small numbers among flocks of American Wigeon.
Helsinki, Finland. May 2019.
This beautiful pair of Pileated woodpeckers are common visitors to our rural property. The male(on the left) has a full red crown and a red cheek patch. The female sports a grey forehead in front blending into the red crown. The female does not have the red cheek patch. Both birds are about the size of a common crow and are the largest woodpeckers in the USA.
I had set the camera up to get some snaps of Elsie, who would not cooperate. (Cats right?) Nadia wanted to play anyway, so I turned the camera around and used a remote and snapped away. I did not get the kiss on the nose, but this was close enough. Cheers.

SCOUT: *Grunts and groans noisily as he pushes miniature piano across the floor.*
DADDY: "Hullo Scout."
SCOUT: "Oh, hullo Daddy!" *Stops and wipes forehead with paw.* "Phew! Moving furniture is hard work!"
DADDY: "Yes, I know." *Looks at Scout.* "However what I don't know, is why you are moving my miniature piano from where I keep it."
SCOUT: Would you like to know?" *Coy.*
DADDY: "Yes please, Scout."
SCOUT: "Well! I know that you know that as the Great Scoutlova with my pretty tutu that Father Christmas and the Christmas Bear gave me for Christmas, that I can dance beautifully." *Pirouettes on the spot.*
DADDY: "Yes Scout."
SCOUT: "But guess what? Great artists like me," *Preens.* "Can have many talents. Mijn beste vriend Peter is part of a band. Today he asked me if I wanted to jam with him. Of course I love eating jam! It's a great cure for a grumbly tummy. Grumbly tummy Daddy! Grumbly tummy!" *Rubs tummy vigorously.* "But then Peter told me that jamming is actually when musicians get together and play music. I guess they must eat the jam after they finish playing music as a reward." *Scratches head and shrugs. "So Jago's beste vriend Benny plays the saxophone, Paddy's beste vriend Oleg plays the violin, and mijn beste vriend plays the drums! Now, I am going to join them because I have a piano. Dolly thinks I play very well, don't you Dolly?" *Looks over at Dolly and nods.*
DADDY: "But Scout, you don't actually know how to play the piano."
SCOUT: "Oh that's alright Daddy. I am going to improvise, like all great artists do! Roll over Beethoven, here comes the Great Scoutkovski!" *Curtseys deeply.*
DADDY: "Oh!" *Looks bemused.*
SCOUT: "So Daddy, I will need to borrow your bear phone so that I can ring mijn beste vriend and we can do a Bear Zoom call and play together. Alright?"
DADDY: "Oh, alright Scout."
SCOUT: "And can you please make me a nice cup of tea, as I suspect that improvised piano playing is going to be thirsty work ."
DADDY: "Oh. Oh very well, Scout."
SCOUT: "Oh, and don't forget the jam for us to eat after the jamming session. Alright Daddy?"
DADDY: "Very well, Scout... er... Scoutkovski."
SCOUT: "Great Scoutkovski, Daddy."
DADDY: "Great Scoutkovski."
SCOUT: "Peter! Peter mijn beste vriend! Did you hear that! I am coming to jam with you, Oleg and Benny! After we have finished playing we will eat the jam. Daddy will get us a nice jar of raspberry jam I hope! Ik hou zooooo veel van jou! Berenkusjes van Scout, je allerbeste vriend!"
My bears Paddy, Scout and Jago have made very good friends with three bears in Holland called Peter, Oleg and Benny www.flickr.com/photos/40262251@N03/galleries/721577154558... and their Mummy (www.flickr.com/photos/66094586@N06/). Peter and Scout are very similar and have become best friends. Oleg and Paddy are also very similar and have done the same as have Benny and Jago (partly because they are both rare blue bears). Benny and Oleg have planned a jamming session and Peter has crashed the party with his drumkit. He asked Scout if he would like to join You can see Peter, Oleg and Benny's jam session by clicking on this link: www.flickr.com/photos/66094586@N06/51828884125/in/feed-66..., or looking at the first comment below.
Scout was a gift to Paddy from my friend. He is a Fair Trade Bear hand knitted in Africa. His name comes from the shop my friend found him in: Scout House. He tells me that life was very different where he came from, and Paddy is helping introduce him to many new experiences. Scout catches on quickly, and has proven to be a cheeky, but very lovable member of our closely knit family.
The piano and stool are both 1:12 size miniatures from my miniatures collection. I have had the piano since I was a young teenager whereas the stool is a more recent addition.

After my haircut today, I got this strange feeling that I’m going to be haunted by a huge forehead………………
The surf scoter (Melanitta perspicillata) is a large sea duck native to North America. Adult males are almost entirely black with characteristic white patches on the forehead and the nape and adult females are slightly smaller and browner. Surf scoters breed in Northern Canada and Alaska and winter along the Pacific and Atlantic coasts of North America. Those diving ducks mainly feed on benthic invertebrates, mussels representing an important part of their diet.
The adult male is on average 1,050 g (2.31 lb) and 48 cm (19 in) in length while the adult female averages about 900 g (2.0 lb) and 44 cm (17 in) in length, making this the smallest species of scoter on average. The surf scoter has a wingspan of 29.9-30.3 in (76-77 cm).
The male is completely velvety black except for white patches on the forehead and the nape. It has a swollen bill, appearing orange at a distance but patterned with white, red and yellow, and a black spot near the base. The female is browner than the male, with a fairly uniform plumage, slightly darker above than below. Indistinct paler patches are present on the cheeks below the eye and sometimes a whitish patch is on the nape, a unique trait among scoters. The bill is black with green or blue colorations The juvenile has a plumage similar to the female, but mainly paler and browner, and the breast and belly are whitish.
The surf scoter is easily distinguishable from other scoters by the white patch on the head of the adult male and its unique bill pattern. Females and immatures have a bulkier bill with a squarish base and a more flattened head profile than other scoters. The black and the white-winged scoters are physically very similar to the surf scoter but in flight, the surf scoter is the only one with completely dark wings.
Like all sea ducks, the surf scoter becomes flightless during the simultaneous molt of its flight feathers. This vulnerable period happens usually in late July through early August and lasts for about four weeks. Before molting the flight feathers, all waterfowl undergo a complete body molt, replacing the bright colors of the basic plumage of males by the duller alternate or eclipse plumage.
The plumage is a good indicator of the age for male surf scoters, but not for females. Second-year males are similar to adults but may have brownish feathers and/or lack the white forehead patch.

Seven-colored Purple Gallinule ~ Florida Wetlands U.S.A.
The most colorful bird in the wetlands ~ South Florida
(two more purple gallinule photos in the comments)
**************************************************************************
The adult purple gallinule has big yellow feet, purple-blue
plumage with a green back, and red and yellow bill. It has
a pale blue forehead shield and white under-tail - 7 colors!
The purple gallinule can be seen walking on top of floating
vegetation or clambering through dense shrubs. Its extremely
long toes help it walk easily on lily pads without sinking.
This bird breeds in the Caucasus and the higher mountains of Turkey and Iran, with vagrants occasionally reaching the Greek Eastern Aegean Islands in winter. This bird is also found in Ladakh and other parts of the Indian Himalayas. Outside the breeding season, it occurs in small flocks, typically seen searching through thistle patches. It is a popular cagebird, and escapes from captivity are occasionally found throughout Europe.
The bird is variable in plumage, with adults resembling very dark redpolls. The foreparts are sooty and the forehead is red; juveniles have buff-brown heads. The call is a rapid, shrill "titihihihihihi", resembling that of a Linnet.
The bird will breed in captivity and thrives on a diet of canary grass seed, millet, and other small seeds. They bathe daily if water is accessible
I should have the word Clumsy tattooed across my forehead .So today i decied to go and pick some blackberries . I decided to pick the blackberries that were growing behind a fence because they are the juciest ones in our yard .
So i grabbed a ladder and i went up ,because i could not reach them from the ground . So i picked them for like 20 minutes then i started to go down , and i realized i could not . Why ? Because stupid me had gotten blackberry vines stuck in my hair , my arm and my t-shirt. I could not move , and when tried to it hurt ,because i would pull my hair
.My brother was in my backyard ,but he was swimming , so he didn't hear me hollering for help .After 10 minutes or so he finally heard me . As soon as he saw me , he was laughing so hard he couldn't help . After he calmed down he climbed up the ladder but all he managed to do pull out some of my hair. Then told him to get my dad . Guess what ? My dad said he was busy . Boy did that got me mad. Then my dad came after like another 10 minutes and he started to laugh and he said he didn't belive my brother that i was stuck .
Then my dad cut off the blackberry vines and then i had to take them out of my hair. That was not fun . I don't' think i'm gonna go pick blackberries any time soon . That's why i like to pick raspberries , they don't have thorns.

Eurasian blue tit is usually 12 cm (4.7 in), long with a wingspan of 18 cm (7.1 in) for all genders, and weighs about 11 g (0.39 oz).A typical Eurasian blue tit has an azure-blue crown and dark blue line passing through the eye, and encircling the white cheeks to the chin, giving the bird a very distinctive appearance. The forehead and a bar on the wing are white. The nape, wings and tail are blue and the back is yellowish green. The underparts is mostly sulphur-yellow with a dark line down the abdomen—the yellowness is indicative of the number of yellowy-green caterpillars eaten, due to high levels of carotene pigments in the diet.[The bill is black, the legs bluish grey, and the irides dark brown. The sexes are similar, but under ultraviolet light, males have a brighter blue crown.Young blue tits are noticeably more yellow. The Eurasian blue tit will nest in any suitable hole in a tree, wall, or stump, or an artificial nest box, often competing with house sparrows or great tits for the site. Few birds more readily accept the shelter of a nesting box; the same hole is returned to year after year, and when one pair dies another takes possession. It is estimated by the RSPB that there are 3,535,000 breeding pairs in the UK.
Eggs are 14–18 mm (0.55–0.71 in) long and 10.7–13.5 mm (0.42–0.53 in) wide. Egg size appears to depend mostly on the size of individual females and secondarily on habitat, with smaller eggs found at higher altitudes. The clutch's total weight can be 1.5 times as heavy as the female bird.
The bird is a close sitter, hissing and biting at an intruding finger. In the South West of England such behaviour has earned the Eurasian blue tit the colloquial nickname "Little Billy Biter" or "Billy Biter", originating from the UK.[When protecting its eggs it raises its crest, but this is a sign of excitement rather than anger, for it is also elevated during nuptial display. The nesting material is usually moss, wool, hair and feathers, and the eggs are laid in April or May. The number in the clutch is often very large, but seven or eight are normal, and bigger clutches are usually laid by two or even more hens. It is not unusual for a single bird to feed the chicks in the nest at a rate of one feed every 90 seconds during the height of the breeding season. In winter they form flocks with other tit species.
In an analysis carried out using ring-recovery data in Britain, the survival rate for juveniles in their first year was 38%, while the adult annual survival rate was 53%.[18] From these figures the typical lifespan is only three years.Within Britain, the maximum recorded age is 10 years and 3 months for a bird that was ringed in Bedfordshire. The maximum recorded age overall is 11 years and 7 months for a bird in the Czech Republic ..... I simply love these little acrobatic colourful stunning birds .
