Overnight Forecast: Band of moderate to heavy snow on the fringes of the precipitation shield has begun its slide east/southeast over the last 30 minutes. This typically occurs along the edges of storms as they begin their exit and pivot to the northeast, where some stronger lift for heavy precipitation remains. This band should shift east with time, bringing one more round of moderate to heavy sn
ow to parts of New Jersey and it may continue through NYC and parts of Long Island as the storm begins shifting northeastward. Over the next several hours, as drier air works into the atmosphere, the bouts of moderate and heavy snow will become less frequent and then taper off completely in the early morning hours.

after several false starts, i'm making decent progress on forecast. i forget sometimes how ill-accustomed i am to following patterns. and i'd never followed a cable chart before (so at first i did it upside-down).
