We visited Mount Ruapehu each day over three days. The weather was anything but consistent with the peak spending most of it's time in the clouds.
Sigh... Blai's flight yesterday was cancelled due to fog and he was put onto a flight today. So many other flights today are cancelled again...

Despite and abysmal weather forecast and unseasonable cold temperatures on Saturday, 4/7/18 over 90 dedicated volunteers arrived at Bread and Cheese Creek to clean up the beautiful little historic stream. Before they left a 40 yard dumpster was filled with trash and debris stream and its bank totally over 4 tons!!! This included 332 bags of trash, truck full of metal to be recycled, 5 tires, 4 box springs , 3 mattresses, a coffee table, half a shed, a picnic umbrella and much more!!! Thank you everyone so very much for all your incredible hard work under such tough conditions! Our volunteer dedication to working toward a cleaner, greener, healthier community and environment cannot be topped!
While this cleanup was planned and run by Clean Bread and Cheese Community Cleanups we couldn’t do any of it without our incredible volunteer and our wonderful supporters. We would like to thank the Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay and American Rivers for all their assistance and support on this cleanup and to thank Burger King, Pat's Pizzeria Dundalk MD, Chic-fil-a and Chesapeake Traders Food Warehouse for their generous donations of food to feed all our hungry and hardworking volunteers!!! The forecast was for a warm day, highs of -2° C, and lots of wind. But somehow we dodged the bullet in the wind department and had a fine snowshoe. It's called Horton Hill because Tim Hortons has a summer camp at the base of this prominence, on the other side from where we were exploring. We had had a good dump of snow, likely more than 2 ft / 70 cm's, which made the snowshoeing good.
It has snowed another 15cm of light, fluffy powder overnight, and he sun is forecast for this afternoon, Thursday 27 March. But our photographer is bored with photographing snow and sun all the time. This was much more fun: some dude defying gravity and friction last ight by standing perfectly still on a metal rail long enough for our man to focus. We jest. He was actually sliding to the right faster than a Labour minister, and it was a lucky shot. He was taking part in some pose-fest on the snow square last night, where irritating adolescents displayed builder's bottoms to the accompaniment of foul music and inane comments from a public schoolboy trying to convince us he was Afro-American. It took half the spectators a while to realise that when he said 'bad-ass' this had nothing to do with a naughty donkey, but apparently meant 'jolly skilful'.
Anyway, the interesting thing to those of us unlikely ever to feel the need to slide down a metal bar on skis is this lad's apparel. It seems as though grunge has gone away, and the real trendsetters now look like fluorescent fairies. Just when you'd given your one-piece colour chart to Oxfam, it's suddenly avant-garde again! Typical.

This wasn't the weather that was forecast, but that's life in the Rockies, I guess. It was only nasty for us for the last half kilometre near the summit. Two things allowed us to summit today: a day or two before, another team of snowshoers broke trail to treeline, and it was relatively warm, likely around -3° C, so the high winds didn't chill us down too much... On this hike, we snowshoed around 11 km's return distance, and with all the ups and downs, gained around 950 m's of elevation, taking 5 hours, 45 minutes to do so...
Despite a forecast of rain 18 volunteers from Clean Bread and Cheese Creek arrived at 18 am to cleanup Stansbury Park and Pond. Volunteers in waders walked the interior perimeter of the ponds while a second volunteer shadowed them on the shoreline to ensure no trash was missed. Other volunteers walked along the walking paths, through the tot lots and scoured the outfall pipes from Lynch Cove Run. After four hours the park and pond had been scoured clean by all our wonderful volunteers! The final tally of this cleanup: 27 bags of trash (Including 57 golf balls!), 2 tires, 1 shopping cart, 1 pallet and a huge steel pole!
Our Volunteers did a fantastic job at today’s cleanup (they always do!) and Stansbury Park and Pond looks beautiful once more! Everybody deserves a safe and trash free place to enjoy nature and I am so glad we were able to help with this!

An under construction shot of my latest piece, Forecast. Just got to do the rain drops and a sig and it'll be complete. The rain drops will be a little time consuming though so probably wont complete if for a little while.

With a forecast of rain for the entire weekend, I had to prepare to run two major races in the rain with cool temperatures (~45F). I lined my shoes with grocery plastic bags and wore an altered dry cleaning plastic cover then minimized any exposed clothing. In addition with two races, I had to bring two of everything. I took it easy at the start of the 10K then the rain hit with large wind gusts. Streets were flooded. Then just as it came, the rain lessen and I felt better so I pushed more. The dry cleaning cover worked wonderfully. One shoe plastic bag ripped by mile 5 - not bad. The race ended at the Alamo - brilliant. Finished in 50:25. Even though I was cold and it was raining, I walked around the Alamo Plaza and Houston Street after the race. The Alamo medal is now one of my all time favorite medals.
The weather forecast was not good for today, and we had friends coming over from Holy Trinity Church, in Headington. I got up early to make some cheese scones, which I didn't have time for yesterday. Then I drove to Bibury to leave the car there, and walked home. The rain started, but stopped as I got home! Our friends arrived and the rain started again. This was the pattern for the day, really, with some very heavy downpours at times. However, everyone had come prepared, and we had a lovely walk to Bibury and back, and lunch at the Trout Farm cafe. Mike brought one person back in the car, as they had a blister and leaky shoes, but the rest of us managed the walk home. It was lovely to have a natter over tea, cake and scones when we got back.

Forecasting, troisième volet d’une trilogie intitulée D’une théorie de la performance à venir ou le Seul Moyen d’éviter le massacre serait-il d’en devenir les auteurs ? se base sur des films amateurs puisés dans le plus grand site d’hébergement de vidéos, utilisé comme un embrayeur de fictions. Ainsi, le spectacle emprunte à la culture populaire, à la science, aux jeux vidéo, au cinéma et à la musique… Barbara Matijević et Giuseppe Chico cherchent à construire de nouveaux modes narratifs entre le documentaire et la fiction. Sur scène une interprète manipule un ordinateur portable sur l’écran duquel défilent des vidéos qui répondent toutes à un critère d’échelle 1:1. À partir de cette contrainte naît un jeu de déplacement spatial et temporel. L’écran devient le lieu de croisement entre le corps de l’interprète et le monde bidimensionnel de l’image. Il en résulte une expérience narrative singulière où la banalité des situations génère en direct une part mystérieuse.
