It's been a very wet summer for us this year. The plants in the Hoop House don't seem to mind it too much. We have a few varieties of Squash this year.

How will Japan manage its relations with its neighbors? Can the Trans Pacific Partnership be completed within the year? How will U.S.-India relations change with the United States' withdrawal from Afghanistan? Is North Korea on the path to nuclear tests, dialogue, or both? The warmest feel like temp today was 0F today...way too cold for any outdoor activity not that I feel up to it anyway.
I sure do miss going to the car for lunchtime ham radio activity, seems like forever ago now. The hf bands have certainly been in better shape than they have been lately as we are apparently still on the approach to solar minimum.
Lately I do some listening on 80 & 40 meters while doing something else or working the odd station here & there.
Not much on vhf or uhf other than the local & municipal fire departments which can be interesting at times. There is very little in the way of 2 meter ham activity but it does have its moments as well. I don't miss much in the area since my antenna is 30+ feet up high atop my tower. As flat as it is here it is good for reception of 50 miles or so as the crow flies & there's lots of those here! LOL
Without getting into what the "Prime Target" resembles, let me just say (as someone who lives in the genital vicinity of the worst of it) that we're f*cked.

... and just like yesterday, I had to run like a nun to get the photo again, 15kg backpack pushing Anna in the pram; she loved it I think.
I nearly got him in the right place, between the two bushes there. It was tough.

According to the latest report by IMARC Group, titled "Data Center Cooling Market: Global Industry Trends, Share, Size, Growth, Opportunity and Forecast 2020-2025," the global data center cooling market is currently experiencing robust growth. Data center cooling is an integral part of maintaining a regulated temperature within a data center facility. Since the computers in a data center are constantly in use, excessive amounts of heat are produced inside the facility. In order to ensure the smooth functioning of the system, air- and liquid-based cooling methods are employed to improve the overall performance of the computers. While air-based cooling systems work on the principle of separating cold air from hot air, liquid-based cooling systems use water for cooling the hot sides of the cabinet to lower the overall temperature. Cooling services are essential for reducing the downtime caused by the overheating of computers and improving the efficiency of the overall facility.

In a ground-breaking humanitarian action triggered by a forecast of flood risk, the Uganda Red Cross (URCS) distributed just under 5,000 preparedness items to communities in Kapelebyong sub-county, some 300 km north-east of the capital, Kampala, in November 2015. The non-food items (NFI) were procured under ‘forecast-based financing’ with the support of the German government through the German Red Cross. The URCS mobilized the supplies as soon as a predetermined threshold of forecast risk was crossed a day ahead of the operation. “One of the disaster effects we are targeting is waterborne disease,” said Irene Amuron, URCS Disaster Risk Reduction Manager, who led the operation. Local Acting Chief Administration Officer Paul Edotu had indicated that dysentery existed in the area, and the authorities were anxious to prevent it. Amuron added: “The teams have distributed two jerrycans, two bars of soap, and a month’s supply of water purification tablets to 370 households in the villages of Okoboi, Omatai, Apedu and Akulonyo,” all initially trucked from Kampala. “The Uganda Red Cross are immediate responders in times of disaster,” said URCS Secretary General Robert Kwesiga. “By using forecasts in we are now intervening even earlier, before receiving reports of disasters. With such a timely disbursal, we hope to avoid potential catastrophe before it even happens, supporting people to continue working and going to school.” (Photo: Denis Onyodi/URCS-Climate Centre)

What will the world situation, specifically related to development and environment, be in 2015? This graphic, in the form similar to a weather forecast, tries to paint out a likely future scenario, with both good and bad spots.

Looks like there are going to be some birds on the backside of the forecasted rain and cold front. You never know, with good migration forecast along with rain, there is always the possibility of some fallouts.

The shipping forecast's at the end of News.
I youthful lie in bed with shut-eyed views.
This weekend is forecasted to be the hottest of the summer so far. Am I deterred? Nope....
Trick is to take it at an easy pace, stay hydrated, and cool (where possible). I've decided to visit Wawayanda State Park in Vernon mainly because its relatively flat (it's basically a mountain-top plateau), the trails are very well marked and maintained and mostly because there's Wawayanda Lake, which has a swimming area beach in case I REALLY need to cool off. (I brought my swim trunks just in case)
I parked at the Appalachian Trail crossing on Warwick Turnpike.
On Thursday (8/20/15) despite a forecasted rain deluge over 90 volunteers worked with us to remover over 130 bags of trash including countless plastic beverage containers, 7 shoes, 3 broken fishing rods, and a burnt couch from Watersedge Park and Shoreline! We were very thankful to have three busloads of incoming freshmen from Towson University, members of AmeriCorps NCCC and local residents who joined us to beautiful this park and beach. Mother Nature truly smiled upon us once again delaying the rain until well after out cleanup finished!
We are also extremely thankful for the very generous donation of doughnuts from Entenmans’ Bakery Outlet to help fuel our incredible volunteers and the wonderful donation of ice cream from ColdStone Creamery of Whitemarsh was an incredible treat to finish out very warm and successful cleanup! Thank you Tara Modo for taking many of the photos at this event!
We would like to send a special out to WJZ-TV who came out to film all the hard work of our awesome volunteers as well as to film Promotional TV spots with many of our volunteer which will begin airing throughout the day over the next few weeks!
Thank you everyone for all your wonderful support! We are so very blessed to have so many wonderful volunteers and amazing supporters! Together we are working for a cleaner, greener, healthier community and environment and we couldn’t do it without you! Thank you again! We hope to see everyone at out next cleanup on September 12 at Bread and Cheese Creek!
