This week's theme was: C is for Crystal
As I'm married to a geologist, we do have some interesting crystals around but due to lack of time I had to grab the handiest specimen which is a lump of slate with one surface covered in iron pyrites (fool's gold).
For some reason this shot didn't come out very golden looking, but it does show the cubic shape of the crystals quite nicely.
This is my first idea for Macro Mondays - the fool's gold theme.
I don't own any gold (real or fake), but to me (and I'm sure to many others too), fool's gold can be anything that is expected to be great but ends up disappointing in the end...
I always store copies of my tax returns in these golden yellow envelopes... and tax returns to me are a fantastic example of hoping for too much and coming up short each April!

Number 0001 is finally just about ready to ship to Japan. Just installing an EVH Frankenstein pickup in it and then I'll string it up and it will be ready to go!
A fool on the unfinished buildings at Chateaudun, apparently using his fingers to help win a gurning competition.
Shohei Otomo
Backwoods Gallery is proud to present a visceral and energetic snapshot of modern Japan though the eyes of illustrative genius Shohei Otomo.
Working mostly in ballpoint pen, Shohei Otomo’s insightful depictions of Japan expose both its commercial facade and deepest underground culture. Delivered with an unmistakable level of biting political analysis and technical perfection, Shohei’s work straddles the worlds of art, graphic design, anime and punk.
Son of the legendary Katsuhiro Otomo the prolific author and illustrator who has shaped so much of Japanese culture with titles such as AKIRA, Shohei’s work takes his fathers legacy into the next generation.
We are exceedingly proud to be exhibiting new, unseen and familiar works by Shohei Otomo, all originals insanely rendered in ballpoint pen, limited edition prints by the artists will also be available.

Don't be fooled by the coloured illustration of a steam engine and the name Jenny Agutter on the front.
You are not getting the film The Railway Children made in colour in 1970, what you have found is a 1968 BBC tv programme called the railway children made in B&W.
A much more gritty story of a hard up family living in poverty in a cold wet part of England.
Well worth watching if you can find it.
Continuing on the theme, able to take the M5 and split between the northern part and southern part of the Rockies (Canadian and Colorado). This was the last roll until I had to send the camera away for a full CLA and meter repair, for which it was clearly due being in the wild for sometime. Lots of hiking but well worth it. Most of the time was overcast but did the best I could to capture with suboptimal light. I was inspired as usual with the flickeranians who do so well in the most trying of conditions - thanks for the continued inspiration!

FOOLS IN FASHION
Music & lyrics by Elton John & Bernie Taupin 1981
---------------------------------------------
He's so sophisticated
In a critic's eye
He needs a change of habit
But then so do I
He's all Zefferelli
In cool loose clothes
He needs to be rewired
He's plugged on overload
So crisp and new
Well it had to be
I guess he needs a change
From the likes of me
If he should lose some color
When he leaves the sun
I'm sure a little Braggi
Wouldn't hurt no one
'Cause when the fool's in fashion
He's attracting everyone
He'll be the head of your list
He'll be your dinner guest
If he's the center of attention
Looks like the fool's in fashion
You had your pound of flesh
You got the driver's seat
Well you can keep the car
But I'd like the meat
'Cause there must be plenty
Down in the cutting room
It's so tough to suffer
When you want the moon
The kid on the left, finger in his mouth, was running behind the robot trying to hide.

or saying any cryptic messages;
you played me like a fool.
we both know it.
Hopefully, this'll be the first of my "Fool Me" series. Probably just fooling myself... I have no follow through.
