Following on from yesterday's cartoon, this is Kaiser trying to catch a worm. It is only the paws which move, not the body and that is why he ended up with a twig instead of the elusive worm.
Following a track along the River Glaslyn I saw these ferns above traces of copper. There used to be copper mines in the neighbourhood and there is a disused railway line along which the copper was transported.
HANDLEY PAGE VICTOR XL231_Yorkshire Air Museum_former RAF Elvington
The Handley Page Victor is a British jet-powered strategic bomber, developed and produced by the Handley Page Aircraft Company, which served during the Cold War. It was the third and final V-bomber to be operated by the Royal Air Force (RAF), the other two being the Avro Vulcan and the Vickers Valiant. The Victor had been developed as part of the United Kingdom's airborne nuclear deterrent. In 1968, it was retired from the nuclear mission following the discovery of fatigue cracks, which had been exacerbated by the RAF's adoption of a low-altitude flight profile to avoid interception.
A number of Victors were modified for strategic reconnaissance, using a combination of radar, cameras, and other sensors. As the nuclear deterrence mission was given to the Royal Navy's submarine-launched Polaris missiles in 1969, a large V-bomber fleet could not be justified. Consequently, many of the surviving Victors were converted into aerial refuelling tankers. During the Falklands War, Victor tankers were used in the airborne logistics operation to repeatedly refuel Vulcan bombers on their way to and from the Black Buck raids.
The Victor was the last of the V-bombers to be retired, the final aircraft being removed from service on 15 October 1993. In its refuelling role, it was replaced by the Vickers VC10 and the Lockheed Tristar.

I was interested to see where and how gar the dye had travelled. I quite like this somewhat unusually coloured daffodil.
The right place is where you stop wondering what time it is
It is the place where you stop controlling everything, being rational and let yourself go, following your instinct and your desire to get involved. It can be at home, in the arms of your loved one or on some exotic beach, the place "where time does not exist" is the right one

Following on from the my previous panorama www.flickr.com/photos/17469730@N00/51899414091/in/album-7... image of the a snow capped Cheviot hills this is a zoomed in image at 170mm on the 100-400. I found this quite difficult to edit as the hills had a blue haze about them and this maybe a little noisy too . I have another image at 400 mm to post another day, this is Northumberland National park near a town called Wooler .
Following the Missouri River, Burlington Northern’s Helena local passes by Hardy, Montana, on August 25, 1993. This train is traveling from Great Falls to Helena on BN’s scenic Helena Subdivision, which unfortunately is no longer in service.
As I am following the chronology of the trip I should now be heading North again. However I could not resist posting another shot from the Lofoten Islands. This is the incredibly beautiful village of Reine a fishing village which is located on the island of Moskenesøya .It was a long drive from Svolvar to Reine but when I turned a bend in the road and saw the village my jaw just dropped. I have a lot of shots of the Lofotens so will be returning to them in the future but tomorrow we carry on North towards Tromso
A little bit of information on the Lofoten Islands from wiki
Lofoten is an archipelago in the county of Nordland, Norway. Though lying within the Arctic Circle, the archipelago experiences one of the world's largest elevated temperature anomalies relative to its high latitude. Lofoten is known for its distinctive scenery with mountains and peaks, open sea and sheltered bays, beaches and untouched lands.
Lofoten is located at the 68th and 69th parallels north of the Arctic Circle in Norway. Lofoten encompasses the several principal islands, running from north to south are: Hinnøya, Austvågøy, Gimsøy ,Vestvågøy, Flakstadøya and Moskenesøya. Winter temperatures in Lofoten are very mild considering its location north of the Arctic Circle .This is a result of the Gulf Stream and its extensions: the North Atlantic Current and the Norwegian Current. Røst and Værøy are the most northerly locations in the world where average temperatures are above freezing all year.
What Wiki forgot to say is that these Islands are astonishingly beautiful…if you have a few quid spare go and visit them
THANKS FOR YOUR VISIT AND FOR TAKING THE TIME TO WRITE A COMMENT IT’S MUCH APPRECIATED.

An amazing experience, as I was following this Osprey on attack mood, he saw me and flew over me, glancing very closely. I am so fortunate. It was very windy and raining at all times.
Right on the heels of this mornings' Metra Rush hour was CP 470-30 with a nice GW orange leader, crossing over to #2 main off the WWD Siding. Whomever works the former DM&E shops out there does a damn admirable job of keeping all that power looking good. Any other place, that yellow pilot would be way disgusting! Rondout, IL.
Following years of macro photography where sharpness, detail, focus stacking and DOF are all important, it's a breath of fresh air to do the opposite, it is quite hard to get an image that half way works however. Just another realisation that whatever genre you choose it can be difficult, thank you for your time.
Following Germany's surrender and the end of the war, the governments of East Berlin and West Berlin restored it in a joint effort. The holes were patched, but were visible for many years following the war.
Vehicles and pedestrians could travel freely through the gate, located in East Berlin, until the Berlin Wall was built, 13 August 1961. Brandenburg Gate border crossing was later closed on 14 August 1961. West Berliners gathered on the western side of the gate to demonstrate against the Berlin Wall, among them West Berlin's governing Mayor Willy Brandt, who had spontaneously returned from a federal election campaigning tour in West Germany earlier on the same day. It was closed throughout the Berlin Wall period until 22 December 1989.
Mr Duck following Mrs Duck around the yard. Perhaps they're looking for some new real estate away from the crowds at the lake to raise a new family?

Following Judi May's gorgeous Twirl shot I looked up how to do this and came up with this one for Sliders Sunday. You can just see the faint outline of the dark treeline at the bottom! I believe Judi was introduced to this by Charlotte. Flickr is such a good place to learn

And following the previous post, a late birthday post for my Petal. I hope you keep the wings you have, and they stay vibrant and powerful as you've shown them to be, in the past, now and in future. Love you always. X

Last night, following a spontaneous inspiration, I went to the Schrammsteine in the Elbe Sandstone Mountains.
At first, I was worried it would be too crowded up there. But during the hike,
I realized already, that most of the day visitors were already on their way back. A huge advantage for me, since I live right around the corner.
And so, despite it being a Saturday evening, the crowds at the lookout point were limited (although I was by no means the only one), and I was able to relax and enjoy the view.

Following the Civil War, R-MC students raised $13,000 to construct a campus in Ashland, Virginia, after their facilities in Boydton were rendered unusable. Washington-Franklin Hall, or "Wash-Frank" Hall, was the first building constructed on the Ashland campus in 1872.
Incidentally, Wash-Frank was also the first brick building in Ashland and it houses many historical treasures, including a rosewood Steinway piano, one of only four in the world. The building is included on the National Register of Historic Places and, appropriately, it is home to R-MC's history department.
Named after two long-standing student organizations, the Washington Literary Society and the Franklin Debate Society, Wash-Frank Hall is the host site for the college's annual Washington-Franklin Collegiate Challenge Debates, a parliamentary-style debate in which audience participation is strongly encouraged.
