Paros by Flying Cat. Fantastic machine - speed 40 knots and feels like being in a train travelling over water. Very smooth, fast and comfortable. The journey by traditional ferry takes 3 1/2 hours - 40 mins by catamaran.

Paros is another real beauty. We stopped here for a few days some years ago. Much quiter and cheaper than Mykonos. Less trendy and far fewer poseurs.

After seeing the bucking broncos in the rodeo, he offered up a challenge to any cowboy to stay on him...............right on Freddie

Not bad for a cat who is roughly 14 years old!

I managed to make a short video showing how they fly, here - lawsie.blogspot.com/2009/03/proof-my-cats-can-fly.html

He has it in his mind that he can make the olympic high diving team. Oh well why burst his bubble.

Sharp eyed viewers might notice me in the picture frame from a few years back. All I can say is you shoulda seen the other guy.

We got her a new mouse and she's all rejuvenated to fly!

As he gets older, Freddie seems to want some insurance for his stunts.

C'mon Fred, Man up.............

Mixed media for the Endless Book project (group An Endless Book), but it also fits into the "Up, Up&Away" prompt for the Journal52 group :)

Hand lettering and stamping ink through a stencil on a page in a Chinese accordion sketchbook. Cats are photocopied from a postcard, butterfly wings cut out from gift wrap, collage on vellum. Balloons are hand drawn with Sakura Micron and Uniball Signo gel pens. The text is a famous Russian poem about a cat who hurt her paw and flies supported by balloons :)

Here, the vellum layer is separated to reveal the lettering beneath.

"The presence of a cat at home offers significant benefits to people's mental health. Cats, with their calm and loving nature, can help fight depression and of course, significantly reduce stress levels.

According to scientific research, the contact with them has been shown to reduce levels of cortisol, the stress hormone, and increase the production of serotonin, a hormone that promotes well-being and calmness. The simple act of petting a cat, can provide immediate stress relief by creating a sense of peace and security."

~ who ever wrote the above info. clearly has not encountered such a cat as the one that showed up in my life . .

'Jazz' is quite the opposite of that description, in everyway

There we were last night for Sunset Cocktail hour and wham, Freddie jumps up on the balcony railing to sniff the vines. He's never done this before and at 1 inch wide and a staight 35 foot drop we did'nt expect it. He walked, sat and even turned around on it. He really has no fears, but we do. Sorry Freddie, no more going out alone. The picture before this shows in more detail how narrow it is.

Dominating the skies...

Edit: Aritzia sold these cats at cost with all proceeds going to charity. Some people lined up before AM to get one and they quickly sold out as some people bought up to 6. One store only had 6 and the person who was 2nd in line did not even get one.

This is not as good as I wanted it to be. Buggeration. It CAN be done without a flash...I just didn't have enough light to stop the cats blurring. Needs a re-think.

Flickr friend, Rampx can do it!! :-D - www.flickr.com/photos/rampx/sets/72157627348296068/

The cats were GENTLY thrown 1 meter onto a chair filled with cushions and cat treat strewn all over. I think next time though, I will just try and get them to jump on their own..because Ebony looks like a log...and not the majestic creature she really is!

I was going to attempt holding both cats for the photo..but I thought better of it.

Also the ISO was at it's highest so LOTS of smoothing had to be done..makes my skin look..weird. I hate the high ISO but needs must!

Back to the drawing board!

Angel-la thinks she is superman.

Its a good 4 foot jump, he makes it every time.

I think He really just wants to go practice His soccer moves in private.

After having some 'flying bird' photos, I thought I'd try some more 'flying cat' photos.

Let me preface this by saying- my cat Elise loves this game. She waits by my bedroom door and meows at me to toss her into the air and onto my bed (a soft landing, of course). Then she hops down and meows for more. I was finally able to get a few funny midair pictures of her... I think I'm going to try to make some sort of project out of these!

Me thinks the Lad is taking this flying stuff a bit too seriously. As Freddie is saying, let him have his fun, I'll be back on top.

My friend's cat, the amazing Max, loses focus and flies directly into the wall. (No cat was harmed in the production of this photo.)

I need to make him a little cape like Superman wears.

The Flyingcat 4 upon leaving the Athinos Port in the greek island of Santorini ... In the background, the volcanic island of Palea Kameni rising in the center of the Caldera (lagoon) of Santorini ..

Then two as yet unamed Severn Link fast cats laid up at Hythe waiting to start the fast ferry service between North Devon and South Wales.

Built by Kvaerner in 1996, they are 40m long, capable of 34kts and can carry 360 passengers on the 50 minute journey between Ilfracombe and Swansea. Other planned destinations are Minehead and Cardiff. The service should have started in mid 2010, but has now been postponed.
