This little beauty was chillin' and enjoying the afternoon sun.
This is a photo I took a good while ago and I keep coming across it and say 'oh I'll use that next week!' .... next week comes and goes and I've either forgotton or decided to upload something else.
I hope you all get some warm sunshine to enjoy and have a lovely weekend ahead!!

but it is FlyDay so posting a not-so-good one anyway!

i do kinda like the look of little patch of Bramley skin in the shade of the fly though...
Lloyd Cole And The Commotions - Perfect Skin
Noon flies - Mesembrina meridiana
They are fun to watch. Great to observe their social interaction - they seem to spend their adult lives congregating in what seem complex social interactions. You can watch them nudge, jostle and replace each others position on a sunny surface. It must all make sense at some level. But to a casual human observer they just seem to have far too much time.
Fascinating flies - each female only lays a maximum of 5 eggs, each in a different cow pat.
It is Flyday!
Buzzcocks - Ever Fallen In Love
I saw them a couple of months ago in Belfast - RIP Pete Shelly
ok I am exaggerating/extrapolating ...a bit.
but sticking to objective facts, it is a dung fly on a picnic table.
Happy FlyDay Friday to you all
This time next week i'll be retired - strange mix of anticipation and reflection with a definite but controlled streak of apprehension also in the mix too.
Shonen Knife - Perfect Freedom

On gorse flower bud.
Looks better large.
Happy FlyDay!
I am a bit short of current fly pictures these days ...must try to correct that this weekend.
Happy FlyDay Friday!
A syrphid fly on a white carnation in a pot on the patio.
I have grown a lot of these white carnations from seed (sown last September from one packet of seeds) and now in full flower in 6 big tubs on the patio and looking great. Satisfying to see them do so well. I can remember sowing them and I also remember pricking them out and potting into old 6 pack pots I had in the garage left over from bought bedding plants I had bought and wondering what the chances were of success.
This is a post and run - Melissa's wedding is tomorrow!
from Sunday onward I will be more attentive about posting on contacts photos. ...promise

Early morning condor over the Colca Canyon in the Andes
For David Niice who takes the most spectacular Fly shots indeed. This one is on my large Azalea that is flowering magnifiently at the moment.
My Victorian Field Guide app says this is an Australian Sheep Blowfly- Lucilia cuprina. Happy Flyday Friday
I realised I had no fly pictures for Flyday ...i need to get better at accumulating some.
...so went out to polytunnel and took quick snap with the TG-6 of this little fly topping up on calories from the fennel flowers.
My macro pics with that camera are mostly not great but I see loads of much better macros from others with the TG-6 on Flickr. Must work out how to use it better. It is so handy to keep in a pocket.
Shonen Knife - Sweet Candy Power
The lavender is nearly ready for business..... I can't wait... it's getting busy already.... yay! .... and my other half is talking about getting rid of it all next year.... NOOOOOO i said to that straight away!!
Have a lovely weekend of sunshine my flickr friends!! :-))
A fly on a barbed wire spike.
Half a second later it did a backflip, turning seamlesley into a forward-three-and-one-half somersaults pike.
Unfortunately I missed this with the camera.
