The Beech Trees at Ballaglass Glen putting on a fine show this Autumn with the never-ending rain we’ve been enduring swelling the river level significantly. I usually try my best to eliminate the sky from my woodland photography, but I quite liked the little window of light piercing through into this otherwise very dark area of the forest. A circular polariser was used to make the forest colours pop, this kind of filter may as well be rebranded my Autumn Filter…lovely timing that I smashed it the other day!

Captured in a moment of grace and power, this owl slices through the air with incredible fluidity, like a silent and mysterious rocket.
Its wings, a perfect blend of softness and strength, propel it through the night sky with precision and agility that leave one speechless.
A magical moment where nature reminds us of its ability to awe us with its beauty and ingenuity 🤔

UP 7225 brings southbound MNLEW-13 off the West Belt and onto the Galveston Sub at South GH&H Jct. in EaDo.
This train normally doesn't run this way, but for the past year, attempts to maintain fluidity in the Houston terminal result in manifests coming in from the north occasionally taking a longer, circuitous routing into Englewood Yard, via the GH&H and the Strang Sub to run into Englewood from its south end.

The six monumental canvases of the exhibition were created by Olivier Debré as the components of a single series in 1990-1991. The title of the exhibition, drawing a symbolic link between Claude Monet's Nymphéas and Debré's large paintings, evokes the entire history of 20th century abstraction. The late works of Monet have indeed been considered by some artists - the abstract expressionists, in particular - as the first manifestations of a form of abstraction in painting. "The Water Lilies of Olivier Debré" does not intend to invoke a report of direct influence between the Impressionist and the painter Loire, but proposes to emphasize the conceptual relationship of their respective creative processes.
The exhibition Les Nymphéas by Olivier Debré allows to present to the public for the first time and in its entirety, this series unfolding its colors on nearly fifty-five meters. The work, assuming a spatial dimension, requires a singular clash, allowing to embrace the painting from several points of view, in a manner comparable to that of which the artist perceived his work in the workshop. It is not a direct representation of the river, but an interpretation of its fluidity, its liquidity, properly plastic. Faced with these works, the gaze escapes, blossoms, wanders at the whim of the surface and is lost in the games of transparency and matter, sometimes dry, sometimes wet. Because Debré does not work the material only to strike the vision, it gives to its colors a tactile relief and an enveloping presence which spreads well beyond the limits of the canvas. In the manner of the Nymphéas of the Orangery, these six paintings of the Loire, among the largest ever painted by Debré, form an incredible almost uninterrupted fresco of colors and light. Juxtaposed in the white gallery, they imply a total immersion in a mental and colorful pictorial landscape that could be described as "Wall painting" ¹. This unusual combination, this sensory suggestion make this hanging a great show
I slip into the Esme Gown by Wild Fashion, and suddenly the world bends around me. This gown is unapologetically daring—its bold cut-out at the décolleté framing my curves like a sculpted work of art, while the thigh-high slit whispers of rebellion with every step I take. The Esme isn’t just a gown; it’s an attitude. A declaration.
The styling is sleek yet provocative, marrying the fluidity of classic eveningwear with the audacity of Avant Garde couture. The dramatic lines recall the risk-taking fashion houses of the late 1960s and 70s, when design broke from tradition and embraced architectural sensuality. Esme’s sculpted bustline and exposed midriff nod to that history—yet its modern, body-hugging silhouette ensures I look as if I’ve just walked off a Paris runway tonight. It belongs on the edge of the Avant Garde because it redefines femininity: powerful, architectural, and brazenly sensual.
Every detail commands attention—the pearled collar and earrings, included with the gown, elevate it with a touch of aristocratic drama, while the shimmering 25-texture HUD lets me reinvent my look endlessly. Smooth satin, sparkling add-on options, deep sultry tones, or electric brights—the HUD ensures I can be a goddess of minimalism one moment and a beacon of excess the next.

The eternal need to climb to a scenic viewpoint and look at things on a larger scale. To see entities, to see similarities, to see causes of consequences. To find new diagnoses, to let go of old restrictions that, at some point, felt liberating. To accept fluidity as a form of existence, to want concreteness, to want terms, to want boundaries. To flourish within certain attributes, to tease myself free of attributes. To call for challenges, to deny myself of anything challenging. To believe in something I haven’t found the words for, yet. To generate new words for the novel experiences. To imagine something unexperienced can exist.

In this vibrant watercolor scene of Ronda, Andalucía, the plaza comes to life with a tapestry of colors and cultural richness. The artist skillfully captures the essence of this historic town nestled amid the rolling hills of southern Spain.
The focal point of the composition is a charming plaza, adorned with cobblestone pathways that weave through the scene. The warm, sun-drenched hues of ochre and terracotta create a welcoming atmosphere, casting a gentle glow on the surrounding architecture. The buildings, with their whitewashed walls and wrought iron balconies, stand proudly against the azure sky, showcasing the distinctive Moorish influence that characterizes Andalusian design.
At the heart of the plaza, a venerable church stands as a testament to Ronda's rich history. Its elegant bell tower stretches towards the heavens, adorned with intricate details that tell stories of centuries gone by. Soft shadows play on the church facade, adding depth and dimension to the scene.
The plaza is animated by the presence of pedestrians engaged in the rhythm of daily life. Local residents and tourists alike wander through the square, their silhouettes casting elongated shadows in the warm afternoon light. The air is filled with a sense of conviviality, as people linger at outdoor cafes, sipping on espresso or enjoying tapas.
Surrounding the plaza, the landscape unfolds with rolling hills and glimpses of the Spanish countryside. Olive trees dot the horizon, their silvery leaves catching the sunlight, and distant mountains provide a majestic backdrop to this picturesque town.
The watercolor technique adds a softness and fluidity to the scene, allowing the colors to blend seamlessly and evoke a sense of nostalgia. Overall, this watercolor painting of Ronda captures the timeless beauty of a place where history, architecture, and everyday life converge in a harmonious dance.

For this installation “TO LET THE SKY KNOW / DEJAR QUE EL CIELO SEPA" The artist "Ana María Hernando creates sculpture in an abundance of tulle—the sumptuous fabric netting—inspired by natural forms and transformed through the sewing process. Across the lawns in Madison Square Park, the artist has realized a series of beauteous, atmospheric clouds and a cascading waterfall that float above and alongside viewers.
In response to the bleak cityscape of wintertime, she has inserted tulle sculptures of vibrant coloration and buoyancy as symbols of hope, growth, and fluidity. Her sculptures beckon with their seeming fragility and evanescence; ultimately, their durability takes hold of our memories."

Liquid, Gold by Alex McLeod
While a photo-based artist, Toronto-based Alex McLeod has collaborated with fashion and music artists in new media, like Gord Downie, Nelly Furtado, Nike and Condé Nast. In this latest exhibition of new work, images of abstract island oases are conjured by creating delicate structures inspired by the concepts of resilience and adaptation. Viewers are beckoned to immerse themselves in the embrace of coral, flora, precious metal, water and gems, meant to reflect nature’s bounty as a testament to the fluidity of existence, renewal and transformation.
“Liquid, Gold envisions oases where fragments of coral, flora, gems and precious metal formations emerge. There are delicate structures weaving a narrative of resilience and adaptation. The crystal-clear waters, reflecting the azure skies above, beckon viewers to immerse themselves in the tranquil embrace of nature’s bounty. Each ripple in the water serves as a testament to the fluidity of existence, whispering tales of renewal and transformation.
Through this fusion of nature’s elements, the decorative arts (including some theatrical tropes) into watery landscapes, I seek to evoke a profound sense of wonderment and optimism, inviting viewers on a journey of introspection and discovery. In a world often shrouded in uncertainty, may these abstract island oases stand as beacons of hope – a sanctuary where the soul finds solace amidst the chaos.”
The nature of the connection forged between humans and animals is difficult to define. Although both mammal, our minds are wired differently. Still, there are many fundamentals of the heart that are similar. Sometimes, one can establish a rapport that has its own, undefinable language; its own emotional fluidity.
It is more than mere co-existence.
I remember seeing my first Rembrandt in the flesh. Earlier that day I had seen my first Rodin. a study for The Burghers of Calais, and had decided to give up painting for sculpture. Nobody, I thought, could do that in paint. Later in the day, and I was passing Degas, Monet, Manet, and Da Vinci, I rounded the corner and came face to face with the Master.
It was as though I had stumbled upon God himself. The work was done with such fluidity, such ease. It was as though Rembrandt was holding his brush out and beckoning me back to paint. As though he was saying "Here it is. I did it. This is how I did it. Now you do it."
One must see such works in the flesh. The original work. A small print in a book is not enough. I reached out and touched the highlight Rembrandt had painted on a nose. And my friend Linda Faneuf gave me a dollar to touch my finger.

Excerpt from www.lancz.com/tenderness/:
Unlike the ubiquitous mother and child themes, Paul Lancz's representation is unique, in that the mother is not holding the child, rather the figures depict two equally significant entities expressing devotion to one another. The child kisses the mother's hand, the mother the child's forehead. Despite the lack of movement, we perceive a fluidity, a harmonious, unified motion inherent in its composition. The ultimate result is a mother and child loftily transcending all others, in its resounding evocation of the infallible sanctity of this eternal bond.
Paul Lancz’s sculpture called "TENDERNESS" depicting mother and child in white carrera marble, has in a short time become the most favorably talked about piece of art in the city. Its message is clear, definitive and unequivocal. In a world where everything is violable nothing sacred especially human beings "TENDERNESS" stands out as an infallible symbol of indestructibility and invulnerability. Noble and dignified it is as impregnable as the Rock of Gibraltar. Its relevancy is particularly apt today, when depravity and dissolution is pervasive. It is a beacon of hope that these trying times will pass and that "TENDERNESS" will prevail the world over.
The mother’s all enveloping, tender embrace of child, creates a unified accurate composition. This modern form, integrates wonderfully with the ambiance of the building, moreover like a piece of jewelry it decorates and complements the walkway. Generally speaking, the meaning or motivation of modern sculpture eludes the individual leaving one more confounded than enlightened. "TENDERNESS" on the contrary is self-explanatory and readily graspable. Mankind’s most noble and magnanimous sentiment is evoked by a mothers’ love for child. From all angles "TENDERNESS" achieves the desired effect upon the spectator. Unlike the ubiquitous mediocrity of sculptures pervading our city, here is one of harmony, comprehensibility and an aesthetically pleasing symbol of love and altruism. It would become an indispensable adjunct to the cultural and artistic aspect of our city scape. It is a labor of love with a truly therapeutic effect on the human psyche.

Meanwhile, on a tropical island in the middle of the ocean, far far away, a lone figure is seen walking along the beachfront, wind in her hair. Her beautiful dress in imperial red, the joyful elegance of her strides, the fluidity of her motion are in perfect harmony with the serene beauty of the rocky landscape bathed in evening sunlight. She is the island's sole inhabitant - she is the Lady from Shanghai, out for an evening stroll.

A good friend of mine Bruce Livingston sent me an image of a pipe organ and asked if I might use it as it really was a very cool geometric pattern shot. I have been playing around with it for a couple of weeks and it was going to make an appearance last week but I went a bit in another direction. I went back to the shot and carrying the theme of the New York Sykline, it managed to get stirred into the soup and produced many of the shapes and lines in this rather unique view of the New York Skyline as seen from the Staten Island Ferry. This is one of those slides that I just kept following to see where the work was going to take me, a twisted path but I love the looseness and fluidity of the lines. Only three images were used, a building facade, a pipe organ and some tourists taking a picture of the skyline from the ferry.
Thank you Bruce for letting me use your shot, probably didn't see this coming :).
Please visit the original and stroll through Bruce's excellent photostream:
