In Mom's flowerbox

I didn't account for the head of the nut anchoring the metal bracket to the brick so I had to channel out a groove for it. The lower nut is below the base of the box. Circular saw came back out for this task.

With unseasonable, chilly weather (and frost warnings north and west of the city) I realized I might not get many more chances to photograph my window box flowers. So I got out my camera.

Nicotiana hybrid - it was so very green!

Seen growing in a flower-box in San Francisco.

Coleus planted in Kona coffee bag. Looks a bit limp in this pic but is actually doing nicely.

 

Box is recovered hardwood from an old cabinet left outside all winter. I think it's poplar. Water-based acrylic over a pickle stain and coated with spar varnish since it will live outside. Plants are in half-gallon milk jug.
