Before pic of the front window. The extra wide mortar is from the house front bowing out over the years. We had star bolts installed above the window and a bunch of the bricks repointed.

Memorial Day weekend project: urban gardening

Got a couple window boxes, stained them black and anchored them to the window ledge. Then did some planting. Didn't quite get the mix right for the second window. But can always add more later.

I'm running out of flowers in my back yard because the darn rabbits and groundhogs (Yes, groundhogs. I'll post a photo.) keep eating them all.

I saw these in a flowerbox on the way back to work from lunch on Friday and made everyone stop. One of my co-workers held my purse and everyone stared as I kicked off my heels, hiked up my skirt and got down to the level of the flowerbox.

Does this mean I have a problem?

Explore #438

This is a project I've been wanting to do for awhile... ideally, I would have flowers surrounding the whole thing, but I can't afford custom flower boxes. But I figured since I'm doing this so close to the 4th of July, I purchased red white and blue (purple) flowers. :-)

I was actually installing these things as that tree branch came down the other night. (Photos previous to these).

It took me a while to figure out why I like this shot - it is because the reflected sunlight provides backlighting for the direct sunlight's front lighting. A pretty cool urban light trick.

Look close to see the pigeon in the missing stonework.

this pot was in the flowerbox outside the window of the cafe.

this photo was captured through the window pane.

The steeple is gone, but you can still see the flowerbox by the driveway. Sniff.

What a lovely little back balcony with such beautiful views. Though at this time in the morning only I was around to enjoy them.

This charming window box, in front of a painted window, made for a captivating and moody photo painting subject. Used watercolor brush & paints in Corel Painter Essentials. Warmed the tone for an autumnal look 'n feel. Added paper texture and a dramatic edge effect. This was a fun project.

My wife worked at the restaurant next to this flowerbox many years ago.

The faint remains of frescoes on the homes in Piazza dell Erbe

This was outside our lounge window. As you can see it's dripping with rain! We were lucky though the weather did improve and we had a great time!

Richard and I are spending the weekend in Toronto.

We escaped from the convention for a few minutes, and I found these neat flowers on an unexpected balcony.

This little Bugger decided to take a swim in an empty (except for some water) Flowerbox on my balcony and couldn't get out anymore, so I put him on dry Land and took some Shots of the Action, here he is after being rescued, he was all grateful and we had a nice cup of coffee together to celebrate :))
