My last trip across the old bridge

One part of the old bridge that I never understood. Why not just make the road straigh??

The pontoons only have 1-2 ft of clearance on every side when going through the Ballard Locks.

My last trip on the old bridge. I was very happy to see this section go. It was in rough shape and was just strange to have to go around the middle of the bridge. Straight is better

All of this is gone now...replaced by the new floating pontoons that are wider and straight.

Serious contenders only, please.

I guess staying dry for the whole ride was too much to hope for. This was taken just before the the downpour reached me. About a minute of hail made the soggy ride across I90 even more fun.

Well of supplementary pontoon. The found out fish like to school in the well, leading to birds diving into the well. The birds would dive in, but couldn't figure out how to get back out. So, the ramps were installed.

After a wait, we walk onto the new bridge.

Inside there are lots of ladders (some plastic?) and 110% humidity at +10F.
