Lensbaby view of crossing the floating bridge. You never want to see the sign flashing.. It means the Navy Boomer Submarine is coming through or another large ship. It can take almost an hour to open and close the bridge. Which, if you hit wrong, you miss your ferry to Seattle.

2 Corinthians 5:16 “So from now on we regard no one from a human point of view [according to worldly standards and values]. Though we have known Christ from a human point of view, now we no longer know Him in this way.”

Point of interest.

The concrete in the background was a portion of the world's largest floating bridge.

The remnants of the world's longest floating bridge in Seattle, Wa. (USA), are tied up in the Pitt River and looking for a buyer. The 50-year-old structure, known as the State Route 520 bridge, was dismantled and towed on water to Canada. It was replaced by a new six-lane floating bridge.

Thank-you for all the overwhelming support and many friendships. Wishing you all health during this difficult time.

The floating bridge is a thin air structure in the form of the letter "V" with a large outward extension above the water. It towers over the embankment and seems to hover over the Moscow River.

Sasamat Lake is located within Belcarra Regional Park in Port Moody, British Columbia, Canada

At the south end of the lake there is a floating bridge, used for fishing or swimming. At the north end of the lake is White Pine Beach. Seasonal transit service is provided by TransLink to White Pine Beach. Lake, land and surrounding park are owned and operated by the Imperial Oil Corporation (IOCO)

It's empty all weekend as construction crews build deep underground fish passage structures under the freeway, hence I have the opportunity to be on the bridge all weekend. It's very rare for me to be here in the morning with no traffic on the bridge. It's still raining.

Tavira Island lies south of the town of Tavira, just a few hundred metres off the coast. It is 11 kilometres long and varies between 150 m to 1 km in width. The island has 11 km of the best beaches in the Algarve, Portugal, including areas where naturism can be legally practised. It is part of the Natural reserve of Ria Formosa. It is also popular among tourists, people that like to swim and bird watchers. Access to the island is by ferry, and also by a small floating bridge in the Santa Luzia/Pedras d'El Rei area.

The original was built in 1820 on the Sunset Lake. It's been rebuilt 8 times - the last time just a couple years ago. Interesting to drive over.

An unusual sight can be seen along a section of the Pitt River in BC: a four-lane floating roadway in sections. A quick Google search reveals that this is in fact part of the old SR-520 Evergreen Point Floating Bride that spanned Lake Washington, connecting Seattle to points east. When the old bridge was replaced by a new one in 2016, the old sections were purchased with the intent to resell them. The 110m sections moored here represent around a mile of the old bridge. It's odd to look at it and recall that I have driven on that bridge a number of times when it was in service in Seattle. Anyway, I think you can make them an offer.

The transporter bridge.

The city has the Vizcaya Bridge, a transporter bridge. The car ferry is suspended from a frame by wires attached to wheels on tracks above the cabin and moves from one side of the River Nervión to the other (Getxo) via a traction system.

This bridge was declared a World Heritage Site on 13 July 2006.

If you ask a Nova Scotian for advice on a place to get away from it all – a place with lush forests, meandering rivers and crystal clear lakes – you’ll likely hear the name “Keji” again and again. What they mean is Kejimkujik National Park and National Historic Site. It truly is a place where you can escape the hustle and bustle of the world and immerse yourself in the natural beauty of Nova Scotia.

The Hempel sponsored Cowes chain ferry (or floating bridge) finally retired in the small hours of 3 January 2017 having been in service on the Isle of Wight since 1976. It ran between East and West Cowes for 40 years. it's a sad sight now but I decided it was worth a photo.

B&W version of my image of the Chain Ferry coming through the mist. I wonder if the new Chain Ferry will look as dramatic?
