The beautiful birch trees are preparing for winter these days. This is one of many pics I took on a small walk in the wood today.
This year the FFF+ have decided to change their monthly challenge from "Five On The Fifth" (FOTF) to “Freestyle on the Fifth”, so still a theme every month, and to be posted on the 5th of the month, but this year it does not have to be five images, it is up to the member to choose a single photo or a collage/composite of how ever many photos they like. The theme will still be set a member of the group each month.
This month it was my turn to choose the theme and I chose "Floating".
This image is olive oil floating on water with a coloured background of coloured paper underneath.

This is a floating floral display which was in the duck pond of one the parks that I frequent. Some of you might recall a recent picture of a few turtles trying to get into this display through the wire fence that surrounds it. I thought you might enjoy seeing the whole display.
Thank you for your views and comments, they're very much appreciated! Have a great day!

I found this feather in a park where it was floating on the water surface of a pond. It was a cold morning, the pond was partially frozen and the feather was covered in frost crystals too. I mainly liked the contrast between the warm colour of the feather and the reflection of the cool blue sky.
A whole village of houses on stilts, along Weld Quay along the eastern edge of Georgetown, Penang.
A few villages were built by Chinese immigrants in the early to mid 19th century, when Penang was experiencing an economic boom due to its strategic position as a British shipping centre to export tin, as well as a major spice production centre. People still live there today and it is listed as a UNESCO heritage site offering tourist accommodation.
This was my only decent shot before it got dark.
I was really busy at work today and it was dark by the time I finished. So I had to pull something out from the past. I had so many photos from that trip, lots that I hadn't looked at or processed.
It's possible you had to be there, but this Snowy sure looked like it was floating with the tide. I guess it could be tiptoeing, but definitely moving regardless. It's right at the tide gate where the river channel meets the outer Bolsa Bay. Egrets and herons often stake out a spot for fishing here and nearby where the outer bay meets the inner bay, I guess hoping for fish being channeled in and out with the tides. I've seen some unique fishing styles of the Snowies, but this was definitely a first. Be sure and check it large - lots of Snowy fluff.

The earliest evidence of surfing history can be traced back to 12th century Polynesia. Cave paintings have been found which clearly illustrate ancient versions of surfing. Along with many other aspects of their culture, the Polynesians brought surfing to Hawaii, and it became popular from there.
