Stay in the canoe Maggie!

Some leaves stay so fresh, even in the water, you can not tell the difference between reflection and floaters.

Filled with vibrant floats, dancing dragons, prancing lions, stilt walkers, wushu masters, performers of different races in their traditional costumes and many, many more, the annual Chingay Parade is the largest street performance and float parade in Asia. It is a uniquely Singaporean Lunar New Year tradition, held during the first weekend of the Lunar New Year, celebrated by Chinese, Malays, Indians and Eurasians alike.

The word Chingay is equivalent to the Mandarin zhuang yi (妆艺), which means "the art of costume and masquerade" in the Hokkien dialect.

These guys (and another 6 sets of the same) have been dragging their carts around Fuchu city for the last 4 days... They finally finished today (Tuesday 5th). They've been passing under my apartment, which has been great - everyone is so energetic, whether dragging the carts, singing and dancing, or just running up and down the streets...

There is a real sense of community too, which is all too lacking in so many places these days...
