College of DuPage Engineering students powered across the Physical Education Center pool in a boat made only of cardboard and duct tape during the College of DuPage Engineering Club’s third annual boat race. Under the guidance of Engineering Assistant Professor Scott Banjavcic, Engineering Club members put their knowledge of buoyancy and dynamics to the test by constructing boats using the two materials.
We created a political art float with friends and neighbors for the 2017 Mill Valley Memorial Day Parade.
The Bamboodu Theater is a puppet show on wheels, starring Lady Liberty and Mr. Trump. Each time Trump says something wrong, Liberty hits him on his thick, bobbing head. A news ticker displays some of Mr. Trump’s latest fake news tweets.
Parade participants will be invited to sing along the inspiring poem on liberty: “Give me your tired, your poor, your huddling masses …”). Through this interactive art experience, we hope to engage people of all ages to change the world through civic action.
We built this float in my front yard with a wonderful team at the Mill Valley Community Action Network (MVCAN), a local political group which I recently joined to resist the conservative takeover of our country.
In this work session, we completed the float, draped it in black, painted and attached our liberty figure and the signs. Can’t wait to show it off at the parade on Monday, May 29, 2017.
I’m very grateful to all our friends and neighbors helped us bring this project to life: Danny Altman, Laura Boles, Phyllis Florin, David Glad, Peter Graumann, Edward Janne, Suz Lipman, Charlene Lundgren, Jean Marie Murphy and Mark Petrakis and Martha Roush, to name but a few.

The original floats were found by Paul's wife whilst they were honeymooning on the beaches of North Uist - they are so realistic that you want to reach out to touch them!
Staithes Illusion Trail created by world-renowned trompe l'oeil artist Paul Czainski - these eight artworks are to found round the village and are So realistic that you might have to ask one of the locals to point you in the right direction!
And so I have. Had a little pampering day at the nearby float tank spa here in Queenstown. I felt like I was floating in space outside of time and reality itself haha. It was magical! 10/10 would float again.
Puppy Paddle Event at Hermance Park in Bristol on 8-8-20.
A 5-mile kayaking event on the St. Joe River was held on Saturday, August 8, 2020 starting at 9 am in Hermance Park in Bristol, Indiana. 90+ kayaks floated down the river until about 1:30pm. Dogs were welcomed and encouraged to ride in the boats. Ending point was the Six Span Bridge public access, where paddlers left some of vehicles, so that they could load up their kayaks and drive back to vehicles at Hermance Park. Due to Covid-29 distancing requirements, kayaks lined up at a safe distance, and launched for their trip up river. The event had a number of sponsors, including Paddle Michiana, Bristol on the River, Bristol Parks, the Bristol Public Library and Fluid Fun. Food Trucks Ron’s River Dogs and Kona Ice were available to serve the hungry and thirsty paddlers. Waivers were used to award door prizes, and a Conservation officer was on site during the event. After kayaks all launched, a group of floaters enjoyed the day.Just the Facts: Puppy Paddle On The River was a kayaking event that brought Kayaking and Rescue Groups together for a fun event to enjoy the great outdoors and find some fur babies a forever homes
