These are 4 to 5 inches long and close to that in diameter. They are attached to fishing nets to keep them afloat.
Cranberries actually grow in a dry sandy bed. When they are ready for harvest the bed is flooded and then a machine is driven through the bed that gently knocks the berries from the plants and they float to the surface.
Color photograph of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8053 float in the 1991 Fourth of July Parade in Hingham. Float celebrates the soldiers who served in the Gulf War/Operation Desert Storm. A papier-mâché soldier in desert camouflage rides a camel. He holds an American flag in his right hand and the camel's reins in the left. The camel has a sign on its side reading "Riding the Storm."

When you have a beautiful bride, a wedding dress, a blowing wind, and a vacant wonderland... you seize the moment.
Surprise! I have more of these, but I don't want to release them all at once. I'm still processing them, honestly. This was right down the road from Búðakirkja, the black church of Búðir on the Snæfellsnes peninsula in western Iceland.
The ships are named Göran and Gert hence the title on the photo.
S / S Göran was built in the old shipyard at Övermo and was completed in 1881, Göran was used to float timber. On June 16, 1916 a 20-year-old stoker was killed in a boiler explosion on Göran. The boat was salvaged, restored and used until the floating stopped 1970th.

The pool's open until 10:00 on Friday, and it looks really cool when someone floats around by the light. This photo was not altered in any way.

Floater is a heavily layer painting that slowly grew over the course of 13 years. You can see the magnification of light around its edges. The central image might appear a bit blurry due to the paint layers casting shadows on to the lower layers.
East Float
The photographs today include photographs of East Float including some from short jetties along Tower Road.
East Float dock, as I explained yesterday, extends inland from Tower Road towards West Float dock.
Beside East Float, on Tower Road, the photos show the Central Hydraulic Tower and its door. This tower is a 110-foot high, derelict pumping station and hydraulic accumulator that provided hydraulic power for the docks at Birkenhead. Completed 1863. Bombed during WWII, it was repaired but eventually closed. The tower is now being restored.
One of the photos shows the wreck of a ship close to the hydraulic tower. The wreck of the RV Sarsia is partially submerged and derelict in the East Float dock. It seems that the boat was built in Devon in 1953. She was a Marine Biological Association’s survey/research vessel in the 1960s, was sold in 1981 and was taken to West Africa and used there as an oil survey boat until 1986 when it returned back to the UK. She has been left here in the docks ever since not long after that.
Finally today, some of the photos show the new homes being built on the Dock Road side of East Float. I will be posting some more photos of that new-build tomorrow.
