Floater II - This beautiful Barn Owl popped out of a dense willow stand and floated by me full frame, allowing for some cool shots. The SEOW's seemed to start their hunt first, followed by the Barn Owls.
I really had to push the ISO and reduce my shutter speed here, but the electronic shutter really helped me with the spray and pray methodology and I came away with some sharp frames.

I spent last weekend at our summer cottage and it was quite summery :) And now we have an "extended weekend" because today is May Day and tomorrow is also off-school ♥ The weather won't be that nice but at least I'll have some time to edit and post pictures. I'll try to become more active here because I uploaded like 4 photos last month and that just isn't enough for me. I kinda regret the fact I didn't participate ADAW this year, but oh well...
i would walk out in the mornings, often with feet just bare.. the grass caressing the souls so good ... and i would just get lost... i mean so, very, lost... please get lost with me and happy weekend :-)
Ps. this garden has now been bulldozed - it was our previous home and a sweet fairy's paradise. situated in a greenbelt valley with springs deep under the ground.

There are roughly 100 of these historical floating homes located on the Southwest end of Lake Pend Oreille, Idaho.
The "Floating Village" at Bayview has been its own community for over 100 years. The original floating homes were simple fishing shacks used to shelter Kokanee salmon fishermen. As vacationing on the lake became more popular, more float homes appeared. The homes were decked out, spruced up, & are no longer as mobile as in the past. Thus, permanent docks stretch into the bay from the shoreline and the homes are connected to the city's main systems.

As I said before....This day last Fall was probably one of the most perfect days that I could hope for..stunning light, a bit of fog and all of the autumn colors present. On this day I took full advantage of the time and shot an abundance of images. Couldn't help it though, everywhere I looked there was something else that caught my eye.
And...it takes me some time to digest everything that I do, so that is why you get to see Autumn at the end of winter...you can look forward to seeing a bit of snow in the summer I am sure!

Mississippi Kite
The Mississippi Kite (Ictinia mississippiensis) is a small bird of prey in the family Accipitridae. Mississippi kites have narrow, pointed wings and are graceful in flight, often appearing to float in the air. It is not uncommon to see several circling in the same area.
Adults are gray with darker gray on their tail feathers and outer wings and lighter gray on their heads and inner wings. Males and females look alike, but the males are slightly paler on the head and neck.
