Greek glass flasks, from around 600 BC to 300 BC. Glass has been made since 2500 BC. Techniques were developed and improved over the centuries. By about 100 AD, glass began to replace bronze and terracotta vessels for drinking, dining and storage of food and perfume. The ancients did not have the clear glass which is so familiar to us today. At the Getty Villa.
The Getty Villa is an art museum located about 19 miles (31 km) west of downtown Los Angeles, California. The site is built in the style of an ancient Roman palace. It houses ancient Greek, Roman and Etruscan art and artifacts dating from 6,500 BC to 400 AD. Items from after 400 AD are housed in a companion museum, the Getty Center, elsewhere in Los Angeles. I visited the Getty Villa on June 20, 2015.

Warren, Connecticut. I like the shape of chemistry glassware and I’m going to order some more to use as subjects for photographs. It's a great combination of pure utility and elegant form.
I’ve now done some more testing of the Canon 200mm f/2.8 L lens vs. the Canon 135mm f/2 L lens plus Canon 1.4x extender and while there are some differences, they’re not enough to warrant buying the 200mm lens (which is a great deal).
When you add the extender to the 135mm f/2 lens you get a 189mm f/2.8 combination. Not quite 200mm but the same speed. While my tests are informal I’m happy with both the sharpness, color, bokeh and handling of the 135 and extender. Is the 200mm better? Probably, but not enough to warrant buying it in addition to the 135.

Did it once serve as a miniature wine bottle for some very unusual occasion?
Your guess is as good as mine.
In ancient China the passing wild geese in formation was a sentimental scene.
It reminds people it was about time to go home for a reunion with our loved ones.
The same scene in the sky could also mean it is time to depart for an important mission to be taking place in far away land.
So wild goose was very much to do with dreams ancient Chinese people held very dear.
That is to looking forward for the important occasion in life.
Dreams come true in China is expressed as "yuan meng", or rounded dream.
Here is an ancient Chinese glass goose which is depicting fulfulment of dreams.
Do you see? It has two symbolized wings.
Each of the flapping wings seen attached with a round ring.
In effect the glass goose is seen flying homeward bound carrying with it wishes that are about to come true.
It has a tail all right. But it lacks a pair of feet. No, it was not made out of negligence. Rather the artist was depicting a goose flying high with its feet deliberately hidden from sight.
Would anyone like to drink wine with it?

I bought a large amount of mineral and gemstone material from a garage sale, of all places. Among the this material was a box containing hundreds of small, double-terminated quartz crystals, which I put into this Erlenmeyer flask. Unfortunately, I don't know their native locality, though I know that they are not "Herkies" - could they be "Pecos Diamonds", perhaps?

My third leather project was a leather flask. I always wanted a leather flask but never bought one because I wanted to make it myself. I bought the flask at Wal-Mart for $4.99 and then wrapped it in vegetable tanned belly (cheap leather) and I think it turned out pretty good. Going to take it on a back country hike for some camp fire time next weekend.
I got this Erlenmeyer flask when I was in the seventh grade (I was... ummm... twelve). I broke it a score of years later trying to squeeze ice cubes in the top. It's difficult to break Pyrex but hey, I succeeded.
