For this week's Assignment 52-Make Friends with Your Flash.
This was taken in a room with early light coming from a window and the on camera flash--no other light. It's ok, but I do think I overprocessed it in trying to convey an 'old look'. Also, two objects doesn't do it for me; I should have used an odd number, say three or five. If only I had a roll of film for that Brownie, that would've been perfect!

Any Flash developers out there who know how to get around this? Flash is supposed to be an awesome vector-drawing tool but stinks shizzle.
It should also be noted that all shapes were created identically. Notice how inconsistent the gray hoop in the 2nd row of large shapes is to the one in the centre of the row above it. Painful. I wonder if I'm the only person who notices this stuff.
Do I want to spend cash on a tool that does this again? I'll wait - and ask a pal who buys it if it does this for them too.
In the meantime, I'll just draw those in Illustrator and import them - the point is that given Flash's excellent vector tools I shouldn't have to.
This shot is smoke coming from an incense stick i used a metz flash on the left side and a reflector on the other. I really like the flowing nature of this shot and it reminds me of a jelly fish floating in the ocean.
Finally got Nikon's flagship flash of SB800.
I ever though to sell SB600, but finally decided to keep both of them.
Try to dig out the potential of nikon's powerful flash system.
Wedding number 2 in December: this time my wonderful friend Maureen and her equally wonderful partner husband, Steve. Many, many photos to sift through into the New Year but this was one that caught my eye on the night.

I recently went to the dentist and had my wisdom teeth removed. I asked the dentist to bring them home so I could photograph them.
Key light at 45° to subject - hight and to the right hand side- manual mode, 1/1 power.
Fill light on camera in A-mode @ f/11, f/8, f/5.6 and f/4. Small differences, though still recogniseable..

first attempt at remote flashes. just playing around w/ set up, settings, angles, etc. still no clue what i'm doing! haha
Q-flash on camera left, vivitar 285 on camera right. triggered by PWs. planned on having 3rd flash behind rider, but was given wrong cord by camera shop (rental)... mental note, triple check when renting.
