I would have a liked a better composition, but given that it's bloody hard to photograph a cat's eye... I thought it was worth posting. Ariel didn't seem to disturbed by the flash, it was a good foot from her eye.
Beginning at frame left ... the dual light lines trace the wingtips of aerobatic stunt pilot, Gene Soucy, who affixed fireworks to the wingtips of his "showcat" bi-plane for his Saturday night aerobatics performance at the EAA AirVenture fly-in in 2011.
At large scale, you can pretty clearly follow Soucy's path made throughout this 30 second exposure.
Santa bought me a sweet flash unit and this little bee helped me to test it :-) Its my first halfway decent insect shot and I credit the flash with that.
FLASH BACK
e nell’evanescenza dell’io presente tutto torna
a me, ogni strada percorsa, ogni pietra lanciata,

I was asked to post a few photos of Flash, my greyhound pet of 2 months.
He is 7 years old.
This was at a 'meet and greet' in Pittsburgh, the Buckhead Saloon
This was taken in Canterbury whilst doing a model photography course hosted by Jason Dodd. This was done using off camera flash.
I wanted a diffuser for my flash, and I was feeling crafty. So, I built one. It's made of cardboard, nice white paper, gaffers tape, duct tape and glue, and it took me about 3 hours to design and build.
I taped together the inside seams with crappy duc(t/k) tape. Interestingly, professional duct installers don't use this stuff, they use sticky metal tape. Anyway, it's not totally terrible, and it's fairly flexible, and it's light colored. Taping together the inside seams, you want to butt all the pieces tight together.
The wild-eyed photographer at the wedding was a volume shooter and never took fewer than three shots in succession. It was easy to steal his flash. I know what it's like to live in his world because I'm the same way.
Testing my new mini slave flash (Morris mini Slave Flash Plus), to try and remove the shadow created by having just one flash.
This photo is the "after", using both the on-camera flash and the slave.

I went to The Flash Bus tour in Durham, NC last week. Got to meet Joe McNally and David Hobby, two of the pioneers of small flash photography. I had a great time, learned a lot and got their autographs. They were both very patient for being rushed by 400 people during the breaks!
Converted to B&W in Silver Efex Pro.
