Haven't taken any photos for close to a year now. My wife suggested I dust off the old camera and flash. So in the evening we went for a walk-about with our friends along the Nipissing lakeshore.
Used one Sb-900 hard at about 30 degree camera left, trigered by radiopoppers, post processed in Lightroom 3 and Photoshop CS5 with the Topaz 5 to boot!
Processed hard for hard lighting not what I would typically do for portrait work, but it seemed right at the time!

Alcatel understand this need and started to create a new line called Flash series. A few days ago Alcatel announced their latest prime model, the Alcatel Flash 2, with an even stronger focus on mobile photography than even before. The NEX-5N nominally syncs with flash at 1/160 second, but I found the Cowboy Studio set-up supported shutter speeds up to 1/200 second. This photo at 1/250 shows the limit of the sync speed. 1/200 works fine, but beyond that, the shutter no longer syncs with the flash. (Note black band of the closing shutter at top of pic.)

It has been snowing off and on all day up here. I finally got a break in the day to snap some shots. Flipped my flash on and took to the night time cold air. This shot totally reminds me of the heavens. = ) (This is one of my few shots that has zero editing)
FLASH BACK
Il luogo del ricordo svanisce al primo istante del flash back,
superata la soglia della propria porta, quando mi accorgo
quanto è familiare il cambiare incessante del tutto.
Il luogo nel ricordo si manifesta,
e nell’evanescenza dell’io presente tutto torna
a me, ogni strada percorsa, ogni pietra lanciata,
i vetri infranti e le altre sensazioni che il luogo
non può contenere, come gli intollerabili “se”
nei ricordi di occasioni mancate.
Il bianco apparire, nel rituale cammino quotidiano,
si colma di valori che vibrano colmando
ciò che appena rammento, dei segreti rifugiati tra l’asfalto,
gli amici incrociati, perduti o coltivati, i dolori spariti
e le gioie che di quando in quando tornano a sostenere inverni.
Così il luogo diviene nel ricordo,
poiché è la mia persona inesprimibile a dargli identità.
Se solo potessi
ne imprigionerei i resti sulle trame della tela.

Yo soy Flash, un perro de aproximadamente 6 ½ meses de edad, color negro con café claro, pelaje corto y tamaño mediano-grande. Llegué a una casa cuando el perro que vive ahí me invitó a pasar la tarde y ya no me fui; al parecer este perro es rescatista porque ya es la segunda vez que gracias a su astucia, se ingresan animales al programa de adopción. Fui desparasitado, vacunado y esterilizado. Soy un perrito dócil y cariñoso, aunque al principio suelo comportarme de manera nerviosa con las personas que no conozco, pues estoy muy acostumbrado a convivir solo con mis cuidadores. Sin embargo, algunos minutos después me convierto en el curioso y simpático perro que ellos bien conocen. No tengo problemas conviviendo con otros perros; ni siquiera con gatos. A pesar de mi edad se puede decir que soy más bien tranquilo y obediente. Busco una familia que me pueda tener paciencia los primeros días, y que esté dispuesta a cuidarme y quererme como todo perrito lo necesita.
